Retinal detachment repair with vitrectomy and scleral buckle

Hello. I am 28 year old female and after 2 unsuccessful attempts to repair detached retina by pneumatic retinopexy, had surgery with vitrectomy and scleral buckle on the left eye.
I am post op 2 weeks but I'm seeing a black line/shadow where I first saw the curtain when I had the first detachment. I brought it up to my surgeon who said it's just a gas bubble because I have 2 big bubbles in my eye. And he said everything looks well and he will see me in 3 weeks. I only see one bubble in my vision and I can see it shrinking in size. But this shadow doesn't seem to go away and is always there.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thank you!

Yes there are quite a few ‘been there-done that” discussion threads by people with gas or air in the eye for RD repair. You can access them by using the search feature. Look for gas or air in eye for RD surgery.   Was you macula “on” or “off” it makes all the difference in the world on the prognosis for vision down the line. And remember your other eye is at high risk of RD so be aware of symptoms of RD, sudden increase floaters, flashes of light like lightening and loss of peripheral vision.
