Scotomas or not?

Dear Doctor

Is it possible to tell whether an abnormal Amsler Grid is caused by scotomas or something else.

I see spots/missing bits on the Amsler Grid but everything else is normal. I had a special test called a Humphrey Field Test 10-2 Threshold which tested the central vision and it was within normal limits. I also had an Ocular Coherence Tomography and it was OK too.

Does that mean the spots I see are probably not blind spots?

Thank You in advance

But if what I was seeing was a true scotoma, wouldn't that show up on the field test?

The Amsler can show two things: blank areas where the grid is missing = scotoma and areas where the grid is distorted
