Sea Sick

I just had cataract surgery in my left eye 5 days ago. I selected the Mono-vision IOL distance lens.   I still have a little swelling and the eye is still slightly dilated. I am scheduled for the right eye in three days.

I have focus in my vision at reading distance (18-20 inches only) beyond that up to 25 -30 feet it begins to get blurry.
Beyond 30 – 50 feet it's very very blurry.  My husband had clear distance vision the 2nd day.
The blurriness is making me ill. Could I have by error received the reading  Mono-vision IOL instead of Distance?
No one I know ever had this kind of experience.

Everyone has a different rate of healing for their eyes.   My distant vision was also blurry for about 3 days before clearing gradually.  The 2nd eye was the same, so at least I knew what to expect.
My surgeon gave me his cell and his private email in case of problems or concerns.
Hopefully you are able to contact your surgeon rather than rely on the Internet.

You do need to discuss this with your surgeon.  Our practice does not do the second eye till the first eye is healed and the person is pleased and delighted.  Hopefully they eye you had done was the "intermediate to near eye".

Cataract surgery is rarely an emergency and you will find many more postings from people unhappy they rushed ahead with the second eye before the first eye was healed and they were happy.

You first need to discuss with your surgeon whether you want to rush ahead with the second eye when you're not happy with the first eye. Sometimes that is "double trouble"

I had my right eye done some time ago, and it took a good few days to get good clear vision. What you said doesn't sound right from my experience and you should go back and get it sorted out before you have the other eye done.
I'm no expert, but at this age I know a lot of people who have cataract s done and it's usually OK but mine didn't act like yours is.
I'm in Australia and the good eye surgeons here always want to wait until the first eye is right before doing the other one, and 3 weeks is the absolute minimum between the surgery.
It'll be OK, but get the lens used checked.

It sounds like if the IOL is too strong. You need to see your doctor to figure out what your options are.

So hopefully you didn't have cataract/IOL surgery today unless you were totally happy with the first eye.
