I don't know. I don't get a lot of sleep and my eyes are dry a lot. So, I'm going to try eliminating both of those as contributing factors and see if that helps. Obviously, my main concern is permanent damage or the visual disturbances being apart of something serious. I may just get a second opinion from another ophthalmologist.

What I found stated that phosphenes were usually from pressure on the eye or an action like sneezing. What I am referring to, I see without pressure being applied to my eyes. I also don't just see spots or circles and they aren't floaters. I see all sorts of shapes. Mostly rectangular ones.
This is normal. Google phosphenes and entopic phenomenon.
