Sixth nerve palsy

My 8 month old son has recently been diagnosed with sixth nerve palsy in one eye. He fractured his skull around 5 months ago but until about 4 weeks ago his eye was fine then all of a sudden it turned into the corner. He hasn't been able to move his eye outwards passed the middle since. Does anyone know the chances of recovery and will the recovery just happen one day? He does seem to be moving the eye better but it still hasn't moved passed the mid point. Any advice and info of palsy would be appreciated. Rachel

Thanks for your response.  We were referred for an MRI the day after our first visit to the eye infirmary and it was found to be clear. Jack is otherwise very well and we've been told that we may not find the cause.  I'm wondering if his head injury has caused the nerve to stop working but as his eye remained central we didn't pick up on this. It was only a few months later when the eye turned in we noticed something was wrong.

He needs to have a follow to see what has changed.  This may improve depending on the cause or may be a sign of more problems.
