Slk??

Hello,

I have been having some trouble with my left eye...Since November I have had two cases of conjunctivits in the left eye. Around the time of the last conjuncitivis I noticed that my left eyelid was drooping. The eyelid is drooping and it feels as though it is dragging on my eyeball. I can directly pin point the place it is drooping based on the sensation on my eye. It also is red, burns, stings, feels dry and irritated 99% of the time. I have been using artificial tears and night time lubricant. I am a contact lense wearer.

On my yearly exam with my ophtalmologist he noted a 2mm ptosis to my left eye. I told him of my sensation of dragging on my eyelid. He stated he could not "see" anything and sent me to a colleague who specializes in corneas. I went to see him today....

He did a VERY thorough assesment. He was wonderful. Although I am a little confused at his findings. He stated he is not convinced by assessement that I had SLK. But based on my symptoms it sounded like it. He gave me a different contact lense solution (hydrogen peroxide type) and hoped it would clear up in a few months. He also looked for "horners syndrome" but wasnt too "convinced" of that either.

I asked him if it was true ptosis would I be able to "feel" it and he said no

Would SLK cause ptosis?

Will it resolve when i switch solutions?

Any tips would be great!

Thanks!

Dear Floydmoe,

In a condition such as SLK, you may experience discomfort and it might be responsible for the drooping.  Seek to continue care with the corneal specialist and have your evaluated for improvement.
