Surgeon says he will use stitches for cataract surgery. Is that OK?
Am scheduled for cataract surgery in October '21. The surgeon says he uses stitches in case of bleeding. But it sounds like he uses them routinely. Is that OK ? (He will be inserting Abbot Toric IOL to correct astigmatism. He says the Abbot Toric shifts less.)
Also, he won't do my other eye because he says the vision is not bad enough for Medicare to cover it. (I think the corrected vision is 20/40.) Does this sound right, that Medicare won't cover it ? Thank you.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Most surgeons don't use stitches unless the surgical wound 'leaks' or if there are complications. The stitches are often removed at a latter date. Don't do anything to the second eye till you are happy with the first eye.
