Would someone offer some advice on my situation. I had a Tecnis multifocal lens implanted in the sulcus area due to cataract surgery over two months ago (capsular was compromised) in my left eye. In addition to night halos I have daytime outlines on objects typically greater than 15 feet away which makes my sight blurry. I read about ghosts but I not sure what that means in reference to multifocal IOL replacements. My vision is not very sharp in that eye (closer to 20 / 50). Reading is down to a .5 font. I went to another specialist and was told my eye looks fine and may take time to improve. My gut feeling is that it will not improve since I had blurriness prior to surgery and my sight is still 20 /50. My ophthalmologist who performed the surgeries said I have three options: do nothing, replace with a monofocal lens and thirdly she could reposition the lens. Nothing about glasses or enhancements was mentioned. I have an accommodating lens in the right eye implanted over a year ago. I was given a eye glass script for a corrective lens in the left eye and plane clear glass for the right eye. I was totally unable to adjust from near to far with these glasses so I gave that up as a solution to clear the blurriness in my left eye.
These are my questions: If the Multifocal lens was not centered, how likely is this to give me the blurriness and double outlines on distant objects? Is this common? Wouldn't the IOL be centered when first implanted? Can the lens be centered and kept centered or is this another procedure in which I could see even worse? Could I wear eyeglasses with a Multifocal lens in one eye and an accommodating IOL in the other? Thanks in advance and if someone would like to offer a suggestion for a supreme facility (where they would go) to have eye surgery in the NYC or Boston area, I would love to hear it. PS: I have contacted Abbott technical support.
