Terrible Dry Eyes driving me mad

I’ve suffered with Dry Eyes for years and have resorted to pulling out the mucus from under eyelids. I know this is wrong but nothing works, Eye drops don’t help at all. Anyway now for about 4 days I’ve had bloodshot left eye, pain on upper eyeball and constant watering eyes. I wake up at night in terrible pain in the eye and side of my nose. I’m trying not to touch my eyes now but nothing is helping and I can’t take much more .

red the section on dry eyes on my blog. You are a 'mucous fisher" and the syndrome gets worse the more your 'fish' for mucous. See an Eye MD ophthalmologist that specializes in cornea and external disease. You need to go on Restasis, Xiidra or Cequa because daily preservative free artificial tears.  JCH

Thank you John,
I’ve just read your blog and it’s very interesting. I live in the UK so not sure what eye drops can be prescribed for me.
Will the pain and redness in my eye subside over a few days as like I said the pain in the morning is unbearable. I have seen a specialist about my eyes years ago and he put in plugs in my eyes but they fell out. He then inserted iodine drops which I thought I was going blind as couldn’t open my eyes for hours. After several visits to him he turned around and said there was nothing he could do to help and I just had to live with it. This condition is ruining my life and my mental health is really suffering now that I’m starting to think bad things about my life. No one should have to feel this desperate not in 2021.
Thank you for replying to me.
Time for a new 'eye doctor'  seek out, as I said, an Eye MD ophthalmologist that specializes in cornea and external disease. Both my wife and I have severe dry eyes.  I produce no tears (aqueous defficiency) and my wifes ran all the time (evaporative type). Both of us have been on Restasis for more than 5 years with good results.
