What are the options for cornea scars? I had a retinal detachment 3 months ago, which resulted in scleral buckle/vitrectomy surgery. Other than a now-fixed iris, that has healed up completely. Unfortunately the retinal specialist misdiagnosed what I've been told is "Map Dot Fingerprint Dystrophy" as an infection for two + weeks. Once correctly diagnosed a bandage contact from my opthamologist healed that up wonderfully but I've been left with scarring in the center of my cornea. That has turned my vision into a mess, simply put. Weeks of lubricating drops has not seen much improvement (though oddly enough the buckle took me from -2.75 to -1.00 diopters) in the fuzzy vision I now have. I've been told gas-permeables can correct this but are there other treatment options? I have no issues with IOP but I do have a very thin cornea (a measured 22?) in that eye. I wore GP-hards 30 years ago and have memories of them not being the most eye-friendly thing I ever did. Thanks!
