Sudden, severe shooting pain in tearducts

I need to know what this is. The pain is electrifying. No choice but to stop everything. It feels as though someone were using  voodoo on me. No kidding! It makes my eyes water intensely, and feels as though my tear duct is being stabbed with a long needle. I have to keep rubbing my eyes until it goes away, and the tears just pour out. Lasts up to one minute. Happens in both eyes, randomly, and is very sudden, without any warning. Has been happening for about a year or 2. I am near-sighted since birth, with astigmatism, and have the over- 40- far- sightedness, as well. You have never felt anything worse than this in all of your life. Please!!! If you have any idea what this could be, I really need to know. I am 46 years of age.

I have a similar problem, but my pain is sharp and quick, not long lasting. Also right now I am having very dry eyes to the point that in the morning or if I take a nap, my eye lids stick together. I have been using eye drops, but my eyes feel irritated under the eye lids. When I use the eye drops, I can't see very clearly for awhile, because it's like a film has broken loose and is floating on my eye. I do use a C pap at night and at first I thought the mask was loose and blowing air in my eyes.

I was wondering if you have found out what this is yet? I suffer from the identical problem and am curious if it gets worse or better without meds or the doctors. Thank You.

It is probably recurrent erosion syndrome.  This is most common in a patient who had a previous corneal abrasion.  Please see an EyeMD.

Likely some nasal congestion issues, applying warm compress on tear ducts will help to relieve the symptoms, anyway see a good ophthalmologist near you.
