Vision problem after cataract surgery

I had cataract surgery a few days ago. They implanted a Toric IOL to correct astigmatism. When the bandage was taken off 24 hours later I read the eye chart and was told I had almost 20/20 vision. I looked around the room and everything was fine. Then they tested my eye pressure and immediately a dark crescent shaped area appeared covering almost 1/3 of the outer edge of my vision. The dark area appeared to vibrate or wiggle. The doctor checked my eye and said the lens was in place and just wait a few days unless I had any pain. I was told that this might just be glare and I could get used to it. It doesn't seem to be getting much better. Could the lens have moved when the eye pressure test was done? If so, why didn't the doctor see that it's misplaced. Any help would be appreciated.

Measuring the eye pressure cannot cause an intraocular lens implant to shift out of position. What you are describing sounds like negative dysphotopsia, or seeing a dark crescent image off to the side. This happens in implant surgery which was perfectly performed, and is not well understood. Try to ignore the dark crescent image, and it may resolve. If not, your doctor may want to consider one of the surgical remedies recommended by Dr. Samuel Masket.

Your response to "Orachella" re: dark crescent image,  mentions the name Dr. Samuel Masket.   What is this doctor's specialty, and how does one get more information about him?

Thanks for the information. Now that I know what it is and that it may resolve I feel reassured. In the meantime I have found that wearing glasses with a wide dark frame helps to make the crescent area less obvious to me.
