Wait for SN60T7 or SN6AT5 with LRI now to correct astigmatism and cataract

My right eye has cataract and has astigmatism. I plugged in the IOL master measurement in the Acrysof Toric Calculator and it suggests using SN60T7 which is not currently approved in USA. Anybody know when will it available in USA? If I do not what to wait I can use SN6AT5 with LRI to achieve 20/20, but the result of LRI is less predictable per ophthalmologist. How much risk involved for LRI? SN6AT5 is a aspheric IOL, SN60T7 is not. Anyone know if Alcon is going to develop aspheric version of SN60T7?

Dear uxuh,

I would discuss the options for you with your eyeMD.  Toric lenses correct astigmatism quite well. IF there is residual astigmatism, your eyeMD can either do LASIK, PRK, or LRI. I would recommend that you speak with him/her to make sure as doctors often use a few different keratometric values.

Thank you for your advice. I did talk to my eyeMD and he can combine LRI and Toric T5 in one operation to target my vision to 20/20 and residue astigmatism less than 0.5D. He said he only has to cut one arc LRI to reach the target. But I saw some video in you tube and eyeMD usually do a pair of symmetric cut. Is one cut of LRI a common practice?
