What does a flashing light mean

What does a flashing light mean?   I am a woman in my mid 60s, I’ve had a floater in my right eye for a couple years I can go without months noticing it really. Now I have in the opposite I in my left die when my darts left to right right to left, I am getting a bright Flashing light at the top of the ark. I don’t know what this means but it is definitely noticeable and I just started noticing it. Any thoughts, yes of course I will follow up with professional I care but was wondering if anybody has any thoughts.

It generally means the jello like material in the back of the eye (vitreous) is shifting and pulling on the retina. This is due to aging changes in the vitreous and is called posterior vitreous detachment or PVD. You do need to see an ophthalmologist as flashes are more concerning than floaters.

TY so much. Wish I lived near you for further care.
Any well trained ophthalmologist eye MD should be able to evaluate your problem. Best of luck
