Thank you, Dr. Hagan, It is complicated. Had a Restor lens removed, dr. used tension ring, 2 wks. later, new lens decentered, dr. operated again, to no avail, sent me to a dr. that left tension ring in place, sewed in the lens, and at that time did a vitrectomy to remove exisiting clouds/spots due to accident year ago. During surgery he commented that their was a stitch that was causing misshaped pupil, he tried to get it out surgically, but could not, also tried with laser, but decided he could not get at it. Only thing left to try is surgery to make the pupil smaller. But I must admit I am apprehensive, I've been through so much already with this eye. As a result of too many surgeries, now have glaucoma, did SLT to control it, and that is helping with 1 drop latanaprost @ night. Also now have hypertropia. Eyesight is very uncomfortable, somewhat better with glasses, but a terrible disappointment. Had the surgery to remove the Restor lens been successful, I don't think I would have any of these issues now.
First of all I would suggest getting 2-3 different opinions from cornea/refractive surgeons who do this type of surgery. It's complicated. Sometimes the pupil can be misshaped because there is material from the back of the eye (vitreous) in the front of the eye. Then a second procedure called a vitrectomy has to be done. Also there are different types of surgery to try and make the pupil round. Generally the pupil does not dilate or constrict normally.
