What's the most prevalent complication of high myopia?

There may not be much statistics out there, but just generally speaking what's the most prevalent complication faced by severely myopic people?

I know that I will always be at risk for retinal tears/ detachment, glaucoma, myopic maculoapthy and a host of other problems and reading from all the medhelp posts I understand there is just no way to quanitfy the risk and  not all myopic people will face these issues.

But out of all these host of complications, is there one complication that is more common and likely to occur in severely myopic people than others (ex. is there a higher prevalence of retinal tears in highly myopic eyes than glaucoma )? (Note: i am not asking what complication is likely to occur in my eyes, cuz I know it can't be quantified but i am talking about the general severely myopic population)

I guess I am asking because I did have retinal tears at a relatviely young age (one at 16 and one at 25) but was pleased at how easy they were to correct as I took prompt action and had regular checkup and ofcourse will do so in the future to avoid a detachments- I am just kind of worried about maculopathy and glaucoma that even if detected super early, may not have a good prognosis.

Thanks and hope my question makes sense. Apologies if this has been asked before.

Those you mention are the most common. Given the prevalence in the general population and in high myopes:  1. myopic macular degeneration  2. glaucoma  3. retinal tears/detachments

Oh interesting... I thought it would have been retinal tears/detachment. Well, really praying I don't get  any other complications; I guess only time will tell.

Thanks again Dr. Hagan for your support!
Retinal detachments are rare: The incidence of retinal detachment in otherwise normal eyes is around 5 new cases in 100,000 persons per year. Detachment is more frequent in middle-aged or elderly populations, with rates of around 20 in 100,000 per year. So if high myopia doubles the risk that would be about 10/100,000 high myopes per year.  Macular degeneration age rated or high myopia related is much more common. Age is a prominent risk factor for age-related macular degeneration. The risk of getting advanced age-related macular degeneration increases from 2% for those ages 50-59, to nearly 30% for those over the age of 75.
Thanks Dr. Hagan! Good to know.
