Yag

Are certain types of IOLs more frequently asscociated with the need for a YAG procedure?  If someone has gone 2 years without a need for the YAG, are chances likely that the cloudiness will never develop?

Thanks!

Non square posterior edge IOL have an higher incidence of PC opacity and the need for a yag.  Multifocal and accommodative IOLs need a yag with much less PC opacity compare to a stand square edge IOL.  The need for a yag decrease with time.  However, some patient need yags year after surgery.

Mutlifocal and accomodating lenses (e.g., ReSTOR, Crystalens) have a greater probability of needing a YAG.

If you haven't needed a YAG for two years, I doubt you will need one in the future.
