Thanks so much for the input. I have been reading this site for days. Most of the posts are from people unhappy w their results.
I would love to know what conditions I need for successful Restore surgery. After reading all these posts I am very Leary of multi focal lenses.
I know 3 people who had mono focal lenses set to distance and are happy.
I have an appointment 12/10 w a prominent eye surgeon in Mpls. Will hear his recommendations.
Because I have just the beginning of cataracts (0.5 on a scale of 0-5) I think insurance won't pay....but money is no object when it comes to my vision.
K, before deciding, please read, read, read a lot about this subject. Like you, I was hyperopic, with growing cataracts, and--based on tests, eye measurements, and my own preferences--my doctor chose reStor D1 lenses for me. These are multifocals that turned out to be absolutely perfect for me. It's been almost three years, and I see better than I did when I was a kid. I only have to use low-power drugstore readers very occasionally when the light (as in a restaurant) is extremely dim.
However, a LOT of recipients of multifocals hate them, having perhaps not done enough research beforehand.
So, please read extensively. You will not regret it.
I would recommend a Crystalens.
