dark circle eyes

Hi there,

I'm seeking curse for dark circle eyes for my bf.

He's young adult 23 from Europe. Suffered dark circle eyes for 13 years like panda's eyes and patched on both sides forehead. Inside his eyes balls also has patched dark purple colour bruise like.

We have been seeking help from dermaterlogy, gp, specialist and Chinese medicine. Nothing was help, he went for full body check result came out healthy. No one in his family have similar symptom, yet he's absolutely healthy regularly exercise too.

We live in Melbourne Australia. We desperately need help from expert guiding us a solution for such symptom.

Thank-you

Hard to tell without a picture, but sounds like it could be Nevus of Ota (I've attached a link but you can also google image search nevus of ota to see if it matches up).  If that is the case, he would need to see an eye MD, preferably one specializing in glaucoma since it is a risk factor for developing glaucoma.

That's wonderful to hear.  Don't forget about the glaucoma evaluation since if it is detected early on, treatment can potentially prevent irreversible blindness.  Look forward to your updates.

I would have him see a glaucoma specialist (eye MD) to check his eye pressure and examine his optic nerves.  In terms of the cosmetic appearance, there may be some treatments offered by a dermatologist to eliminate the pigmented spots.  Ota is the name of the person who first described the condition.

Hello there Dr,

Thankyou so much so your valued advice. After you gave me that link I did some research and organised to see an eye MD. I also found there's a laser treatment called Ruby laser is to remove the pigmentation of nevus of ota symptom. This gave us big hope DR!

Thank-you o much for your help, cause we tried to research many places even visited a dermaterlogy but so strange few months ago we went to see dermaterlogy they said laser can do very little affect to remove the pigmentation? Lucky you send e that link then I did some research refer to the symptom's name, then I found this one place offer 100 different types of laser treatment and one of them to remove nevus.

Finger cross this will help...

Will keep you update if you not mind?

Thank you again Dr shen

Hello again Dr Shen,

After few days research I realised that not all people suffer from nevus ota would benefit complete from the laser treatment. If a person have mixture skin colors, they might not be able to undergo through laser treatment. I don't know how accurate from the articles. We booked to see dermaterlogy specialist but we will need to wait for few weeks.

I'm wondering can my bf has the laser treatment done without seeing an eye MD? The panda's eyes are the most worries him to be honest. Do you think without doing anything to the eyes balls lesion would help? I mean if he just wanna remove the shadow without treating his eyes balls will help? MD here very rare to find one. GP recommended he only needs to see dermaterlogy the gp don't even know what's MD!

Up to this stage we very worry about the treatment, we too afraid there's no cure for this symptom even there's , it may not suitable for my bf?

Could you please advise us a bit more about that?

Many thanks Dr Shen.

Kira

I think the treatment for the skin lesions is a bit outside my expertise, but I would be very cautious about any procedure not performed by someone who is not an MD.  If there are none available in your local area, perhaps you may need to seek an opinion somewhere else.  As an eye MD, I still think in addition to the cosmetic issues with regards to the panda eyes, please do not ignore the issues with possible elevated pressure in the eyeballs since that will definitely have a significant impact on your boyfriend's quality of life if he is gradually losing vision from glaucoma.
