degenerative myopia

Hi i have a 7 year old daughtert who has degenerative myopia she is -11.5 in both eyes but was told yesterday that they have got worse so she got to go for another eye test thursday to see how much worse. They first noticed her eye condition about 3 years ago and she was a -6.5 then so to me seem to be deteriating very fast. I am scared that she will lose her sight, as i have been told that this can happen they said she hasn`t got a blind spot in her eyes yet!!!! I wondered if anyone can tell me of a place where they help children with this condition as in the uk they dont seem to care just give me glasses and say thats all they can do.I will be grateful for any info thanx cheri x

You need to search these forms for postings by "dukey" regarding a new drug being tested called 7-methylxanthine (7-mx).  Apparently it's working extremely well in myopic individuals, particularly children.  Best of all (for you), it appears to be legal in the UK, but not yet FDA-approved in the USA.

Thank you for the reply she goes to the hospital every 3 months to have her eyes checked where they check the retina aswell it is ok at the moment so they say but not sure if i trust the hospital she goes to, as everytime we go theres 3 doctors all argue what her site is. They say this is because its hard to tell as she is so short sited, do you know of anywhere i can take her. thanx cheri
