Hi! Thanks in advance to all for your opinions.
I was diagnosed with a giant retinal tear and detachment (macula on) and had vitrectomy done on my left eye in June with silicone 5000 tamponade. The silicone was removed 3 months later. Both surgeries went 'as planned' according to the doctors and the retina is currently (1 month after silicone removal) in place and anatomic result is good.
2 months into silicone period (1 month before its removal) I noticed that I am starting to have a blurry spot right in the middle of my center vision. The spot is about the size.. well .. if I look at a 7-letter word in a book at about 10 inches away - I will see the first and last letters and the middle is blurry. If I am driving during the day - I can't tell the traffic light color with this eye. If I shift the vision axis to just above or below the traffic light - I can see it clearly with my 'almost center vision'.
The doctor is saying that it is something with the retina and may or may not fix itself, but they are also talking about the developing cataract that will need to be addressed soon. Can a blurry spot that small be a tiny cataract spot inside the lens or is it retina? It is strange that everything was fine after the surgery and I could see well for months and this phenomenon only started late in the silicone tamponade period of 3 months.
