Beta blockers and cataract risk

Hi l read an article that worried me here https://abcnews.go.com/Health/Healthday/story?id=8157436&page=1
It said there could be a link between beta blocker medication and cataracts. l take both beta blocker eye drops timolol and blood pressure medication daily for past ten years  . l was recently diagnosed with cataracts .  Do you think there could be any substance to this claim of a link between beta blocker eye drops like timolol and cataracts

That study is from 2009 and is flawed, not controlling for the fact that patients on beta blockers are in the older age groups where cataracts are more common. In any case in 2021, beta blockers have many potential side effects but cataracts is not one of them.
