floters

My mother had a cataract surgery last oct.04,2008. After 3 weeks she developed floters in her operated eye. She can see dark spots and web like floating in her eye. I consulted her doctor but he said this is just a minor complication of cataract surgery and these floters were just normal and has no treatment. The floters in her eye become bothersome to her. My questions are: 1. will these floters subside in how many months 2. aside from vitrectomy (which is not effective as i research to this kind of surgery), is there any way to lessen them. 3. Is there any eye drop or medicine to treat of such floters.  4. is this hopeless that these floters will not go away or she just have to live with it. What we can do  to help her.I told her to lessen her coffee intake as this will trigger more.

1. maybe yes maybe no. Cataract surgery generally doesn't cause floaters but because the eye sees better it can see floaters that the cataract blocked out.
