How long does it take negative dysphotopsia to dissappear or get small?
İs there anyone here whose negative dysphotopsia disappeared.

Dr. Why does my dark arc on my  pereferaferal vision go away, when I take my adderall? So I can try and get that operation that can change the size of the pupil. I have very dark brown eye's, and I can't tell if my pupils are big, or pinpoints on adderall. What every they are, it work's like a miracle. I couldn't see with out the meds.
thank you

hello Dr, im desperate i had rle nearly 2 yrearsa go but imeddiately the left eye expereinced severe flares halos and ultra sensitive to any light indoors or out. i also had the shadow flickering on the edge og my eye and after another consult i was told ot was ND. I asked after reserching if the piggyback lens, if it  would n fix that issue,  but he wrote to tell me that replacing it with a single vision lens would fix up all three issues. I t hasnt.  I now have 1 single vision lens on my left eye , which still had the ND , which is why i wanted the piggybacvk lens. my weaker eye has no issues besides halos aftet 2yrs.
II've seen 2 other opthamologists and i was told to wait 18 months. I did, it hasnt changed, I saw another a few days ago and he said it wont change and didnt reccomend anything else. Is that it for me> I am stuck with the light sensitivity and ND on my strong , eye. my weak eye is fine which makes this so frustrating. have you any furhter advice or hope to give me as im cant bear this . thank you

I had check with my surgeon. he said I do not have negative dysphotopsia. According to him the cause is lasering retina during surgery. Does lasering retina during vitrectomy causes effects like negative dysphotopsia? does it improve with time?

Tomorrow I have a check with my surgeon. It is a nice idea to write down the problems and giving him.
I wish healty eyes for everyone, including you and me. It is very hard to live with problems in the eye.
Thanks for your concern...

My pupil is still dilated. It may be a little smaller.
When looking at someone in front of a window I couldn't see their face at all. Like they were sitting in front of the sun. It's manageable now. Same with all that sparkly light. Took about 4 months before it stopped bothering me. Still have GASH.
I understand your brain eventually filters out a lot of it.

Write down a list of your symptoms and give it to your doctor rather than trying to remember them. A second opinion wouldn't be a bad idea, if only for confirmation that the lens and eye are physically sound. And they can advise on replacements.

Visual acuity is another story. I went from plano the day after to +1.5 a month later. So it's difficult to determine what's causing what. Since this is my "good" eye though, I don't want to mess with it.

thanks Gownie.
My dysphotopsia is big. Sometimes it increases, sometimes it decreases. I think it is related to the eye position. It increases when I try to read or look left, it decreases when I look far. My eyes seems to undilate slightly day by day.

May I ask you more questions if you do not mind?

1) how many months did it take for your eyes become normally dilated? did yor visual acuity improve with undilation?
2)Did neg. dysphotopsia increase/decrease as the pupil undilates?
3)You said after a year it is only bothersome with certain light angles. How bothersome is it compared to first months after surgery?

I had the same lens and negative dysphotopsia, along with dilation.
For 2 months I couldn't read in the morning. It gradually improved.
After a year it's only bothersome with certain light angles. Sometimes I don't even wear sunglasses outside.

The risks involved with replacement or piggyback lenses scared me away. The new lens could make it worse or create new problems. My vision is far from perfect but I can live with it, and that's the big factor.

Dear Oyakawa,
I had the surgery 2 months ago. The lens is a Alcon Acrysof IQ IOL  Model: SN60WF, Length: 13.0mm, Optic: 6.0mm with a UV blue light filter. I was -6 myopic before surgery.
1)which iol must be used in order to reduce negative dysphotopsia?
2) how long must I wait if there is a chance to disappear?
3)I have some dilation. Does it increase negative dysphotopsia?
Thanks

Another possibility is reverse optic capture.  This will not work with a one-piece IOL.

Most do not disappear.  You may need an IOL exchange or a piggyback IOL.  A yag to the anterior capsule is another option.
