how to find model numbers

I dont know if i will be able to get the model number that i had implanted or not, but i wanted to know where can i find what model numbers there are that would be used in india currently. they told me it is a multifocus one piece silicone lens and that it is patterned in rings for different distances-four rings they said, though i had read about five ring lenses.

the tecnisiol website doesnt have any information like that as far as i could tell. if i ever get any information out of them at the hospital, at least i will be able to verify it is a real number. also i want to know how many models there are to see what is the difficulty in tracking down what it is i have been given if i dont get the number.

in india we are lucky to get receipts-doctors do not care to share what they are doing, they expect full trust, co-operation and extreme ignorance. thank god for this forum...

33 is the dioptric power of the IOL at distance.  +4 is the diopters added for near vision

thanks-
but what does the +33 OD and +4D mean?
is +4D referring to the diffractive power which all these lenses would have?
is +33 OD referring to Optic Diameter, the size of the lens?

is there nothing to tell me what is the correction the doctor chose for my sight? mind you i am not arguing about it, because i can see great. but i just was curious to know what he had to choose from and where my correction fell within that range.

FROM the technic web site:

Specifications

Model Number ZM 900
Optic Diameter 6.0 mm
Optic Type Modified prolate anterior surface, Diffractive posterior surface, square optic edge
Diffractive Power +4.0 diopters of add , 50/50 light distribution
Haptic Angulation 6 degrees (anterior angulation)
Haptic Configuration CapC Haptic Design
A-Constant 119.0
Refractive Index 1.46
Diopter Range +5.0 trough +34.0 diopter
Material UV-absorbing Polysiloxane

What is it?
The TECNIS MULTIFOCAL IOL is foldable, ultraviolet light-absorbing posterior chamber artificial lens for implantation in the eye to restore vision after a clouded natural lens (cataract) is removed.
The lens of the IOL is convex on both sides (biconvex) and made of a silicone (polysiloxane) that can be folded prior to insertion, allowing placement through an incision smaller than the optic diameter of the lens.
After insertion into the eye, the lens gently unfolds to restore vision. The supporting arms (haptics) provide for proper positioning of the IOL within the eye.

actually i am an expatriate-born and raised in the usa, but came to india after retirement  my mom (anglo/indian/eurasian) was born here.

also, i am shocked, rather than keeping records the doctors here give us papers with various notes, and from the surgeon i had a nice plastic folder with one paper for each eye, and lo and behold on it were stickers with the model number and power!

i surfed and found lots of good specs and reviews on the lenses, but maybe you can give me your opinion of them?

also, i am interested in understanding all the numbers concerning the testing that is possible on eyes-i had no idea there were tests for color, contrast, etc.

also my stickers both say: ZM900 +33.OD +4D, if you can explain what the numbers mean?
thanks

I suppose you could call tecnis customer service, explain your problem and ask for your IOL Data. The surgeon is suppose to send alll that data to the manufactuerer.

hehehe-what chart? here patient records are not kept either. what would be invaluable would be the receipt from the importer or medical store, but they are hardly going to give me that. where would the doctor have recorded the power he requested? i assume that too would be on the order papers...but not individual patient records.

is there nowhere online i can find a listing of what model numbers exist for the amo tecnis? if some problem is to arise in the future it would be nice to know which lens i am using. i would never consider doing business this way, but i am living in the third world now. it has advantages for me and this is one of the disadvantages. in most cases it isnt very important, but this seems critical to me.

i am going to do my best to get some numbers from the doctor's office, but co-operation in these matters is minimal. i have lived here for six years. at the time i chose the lenses i was not aware there were model numbers, and they had never had a patient ask what kind of lenses they were getting-i asked for the company name. they gave me a brochure that did not mention silicone or one piece or aspheric, only promoting how well you will see. the patients are usually given a price option, and no explanation of the difference in products. furthermore, there is the practice culturally of not saying no-i might be given a number entirely imaginary in order to 'satisfy the customer'.

I can't say about India

In the USA and most of the rest of the developed world patients are given a card with model number and serial number of the IOL implanted and information is also put in the chart.
