iol replacement

Hello. I am about to have IOL replacement surgery within the next two weeks. I am a very "special" case. My surgery is not due to cataracts, but due to horrible vision. I am a plus 9.0 and plus 9.5. I also have strabismus. My doctor has suggested a monovision surgery allowing me to have one eye able to see close up and the other to see distance. We spoke the other day, and he informed me when he went to order the lenses that they do not have the newest technology in my prescription. Basically, the only lenses he could order was one from the 70s and one from 2005. Neither of these lenses are the three piece, both are one piece lenses. Does anyone know of the newer technology for someone with really really bad vision like me?

Hello. thank you for the response. Yes, I am in the US at a military installation. My opthamologist tried several places that sold the IOL lense and no one seemed to have the three piece lense for my prescription. Would you know where to go?

Are you in the US?  Because the IOL technology to treat you is definitely available in the US.

ALSO do NOT HAVE MONOVISION SURGERY until you have been fully examined by an orthoptist (in the UK) or a pediatric ophthalmologist (in the US). You might totally decompensate your eye crossing if you have monovision surgery, and cause numerous other miserable symptoms besides.  You can find docs in the US and UK both through www.aapos.org.
