I had the tecnis implanted in Oct. 2013, I am having it ex-planted and a single focus lens to replace it. I will need to wear glasses for near and far anyway. I would research very carefully, they do not work well for everyone, and with your other problems it may not be the best solution; the fewer other eye issues the better with this multi focal lens. Ask as many questions as you can think of about what the results will be, I was very positive going into this too, but here I am, so don't rush your decision. Basically it did not do for me what it was suppose to do. Huge star bursts around lights (the halos I could deal with) glare from light sources, because there are many rings and light reflects off of them all. My close and distance vision still need correction with glasses besides all the bad affects.
What type of multifocal and what is it you aren't happy with? I would love a multi focal but am not sure if a mono would be better. My eyes are nearsighted and -11-13 now, after two Retinal detachments, one in each eye. Today I go for measurements to take the next step, before cataract surgery.
Is the surgery recovery comparable to cataract surgery for recovery? Are stitches always required? I had corneal abrasion with the cataract surgery, I was told that could happen again; how likely is that? I will see my surgeon Monday also.
This can be done fairly easily.
