need a good doctor

Hello...I am looking for a good doc to help me with my eyes. I have prenatal cataracts in both eyes and am now 40. In addition I have fairly significant astigmatism s in both eyes. Most problematically, I struggle to see detail (reading, faces, entire murals) unless there is significant contrast and no back light. I do not want to make my situation worse by having the cataracts removed and was told to wait until technology improved but this is now interrupting my work. I am also uncharacteristically panicky about having my eyes examined and almost every doc has been rather impatient with me thus far...any suggestions? THANK YOU
