photopsia with purple blobs

Hi,

Im 25 yrs old and I have been having specks of white light going for a number of months. They started just over 2 years ago. The doctor has mentioned the word traction but i am convinced it is posterior viterous detachment although that hasnt been suggested. I initially had a full eye exam 2 yrs ago and no holes or tears were found.

I also now get purple blobs which appear on and off. The specks of light often but not always appear when i move my eyes from one extreme to another. Furthermore after they dilated my eyes 2 yrs ago i have suffered photophobia which hasnt gone away.

What does this all suggest?

Thanks

Dr. 0yakawa,

What eye diseases are there that can progress over a period of 3 years or more eventually leading to blindness?

how long would a retinal detachment take for example?

thankyou.

Dr. ray isn't very helpful. can't the doctors at least venture a guess?

I have the same thing as you. It is very frustrating and scary. I've had it on and off 11 years, but this past summer it has been stuck very severely. I am scared this phase isn't ending. White spots, photopsias, mostly purple, some of them HUGE blobs, lasting anywhere from several seconds to hours to weeks.

I am on this site alot looking for answers and advice. Some of the doctors here just say ' see a doctor' WOW, that is so helpful. Why are you on this site if that's all you say to us?

See a retinal specialist.   The dilation from two years ago is not related to your photophobia.
