retinal detachment gas bubble

So I had retinal detachment surgery a week ago. I got a scleral buckle, and the gas bubble. During that surgery I developed cataracts and had to get the lens taken out, so now when I look in the mirror I can see the gas bubble perfectly. This morning, it split into two smaller bubbles. Right now, there's only one bubble again, and it's the smaller size....Is it normal for it to split and have one of the bubbles dissolve so quickly? I don't know why I'm freaking out. I called my dr. when I noticed it split this morning and they said that was normal, and a good sign.

Any ideas?

wow i did not realize you could do that. i just had 3rd surgery for detached retina. the first was pretty severe, but i had the gas bubble and it was amazing that i could see from the inside the bubble become smaller. it is frightening though, but i noticed it gradually settled to the bottom, also after 6 weeks i still had small amount of bubble. so maybe it is good sign that it is starting to dissolve.  good luck!
