spider web vision

This morning when I woke up and opened my eyes, my whole bedroom was covered in a spider web type pattern.  The room was fairly dark but not pitch black.  It was an overall pattern covering walls, ceiling, and floor, like long, skinny leaves or thick spiderwebs.  After a couple of seconds it went away.  This has happened in the past, though not often.  Is it something to be concerned about?  I'm 49 and in good health, do not even wear glasses except for reading.

I did see an opthamologist yesterday afternoon, they felt it urgent that I come in.  Good news however!  After an array of tests he determined that my eye health is great.  He speculates that as I sleep at night (on my back usually) the gel type coating with the retina has somewhat liquified, as is normal as we age, and settles causing the "design" that I see when I awake.  As I become upright, the liquid goes back into place, thus clearing my vision. I'm so thankful!

You should be checked by an opthamologist, that can be a sign of a retinal detachment.
