wavy peripheral vision

Last night for the first time ever I experienced wavy (appeared to be golden in colour) lines in my periperal vision. Even when I closed my eyes the waves were still there. There were no other symptoms & without any medication of any description, ten minutes later they were gone.

A really weird feeling which caused me to actually turn my head several times to the left to look for the wavy "object'.

Could anyone please cast any light (he-ha) on this subject?

Many thanks.

Was it like a scintillating scotoma as described here? You can see those even without the migraine headache.

You could also do a Google search on scintillating scotoma and click on Images to see if it looks like any of those.
