TTC for over 2 years with no luck

My husband and I have been married for 3 years now and trying for over 2 years.  I started my menstrual cycle when I was 13 years old and they have always been irregular...sometimes there would be 28 days in between and sometimes 40-55 days in between.  My doctor always told me everything was normal and this is how my cycle would be unless I was on birth control.  My husband did get diagnosed in February 2008 with a varicocele, he had the surgery to fix the problem, the doctor  did another sperm analysis on him 6 months later and he said he sperm count was normal enough for us to be able to conceive within a year.  We decided in December 2008 to try a fertility specialist....we did one round of IUI with Clomid and one round of IUI with injectables with no luck.  I forgot to mention earlier that I did successfully get pregnant at the age of 19...I'm now 34 and carry to term.  I got pregnant in 2000 and miscarried at 10 weeks and got pregnant in 2003 and miscarried at  7 1/2 weeks.  I'm just not sure what to do at this point.  Thank you for any responses and help.

Hi!
If I were in your boat, I would go for In Vitro.  That is the surest and quickest way to a baby.  If you don't have the extra cash lying around for that (most people don't!) I would suggest continuing with your specialist and the injectables.  I'm sure your specialist has a bead on what is causing you to have irregular cycles. and most likely knows the best way to correct that problem.  He/she probably also knows what dosages and meds are going to work best for you at this point,  Especially at 38, its going to take some time, so be patient.  One thing I often advise people to do is start looking into the adoption process IN ADDITION TO continuing with their infertility treatments.  It kind of takes the pressure off and one way or another you end up with a kid!

Hope this is helpful!

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years. The first year we tried on our own, and I becam pregnant, but miscarried very early on (5 weeks). My beta levels were at 16. After a year of trying on our own, we tried a fertility clinic. We went through one natural cycle of IUI, one clomid cycle of IUI with no luck. One the third IUI, we got pregnant, but miscarried/ectopic (they are not sure). I took Methotrexate for the ectopic which was about a 3 month long process. We were ready to give up, but then we got pregnant naturally. I was 6.5 weeks and the fetal heartbeat was strong. At 8.5 weeks, there was no heartbeat. I was given misoprostol to expell it. I was given some tests as was my husband. Everything checked out fine..still waiting for a chromosonal test. But, after three miscarriages (which i was told is rare) what are my chances of carrying a child to term? What other procedures can be done?

Any information I could get would greatly be appreciated!!

Thanks
