I went straight to work after then took it easy in the evening.  It was a good excuse to get out of cooking dinner!!  I didnt see what the heck they were doing down there but it was over in a flash!  Well good luck to all of you IUI ladies..... as bny807 said to me earlier maybe we will have beginners luck!! Haha!

I think all of us on here deserve to cheat a little bit personally!!!   God knows me and dh need all head starts we can get!!!   The catheter is only in for less than a minute while they inject the sperm in your uterus then they take it out and you lay there 10-20minutes and then they say back to normal activities! There was literally no down time from it! I took it easy just to be cautious, but who knows if that makes any difference! We Bd that night to cover our bases! I don't think sitting down and driving would be harmful, but defintley ask your RE too! GOOD LUCK!!! i'll be keeping you in my prayers! :)

Good luck!!! I just had my first IUI yesterday as well! it was easy smeezy! They had a tough time getting the catheter thru my cervix since the os was small, but it still didn't hurt a bit and no discomfort afterwards or spotting! So i was shocked how easy it was! dh did his thing about 2 hours before hand and i dropped it off and came back once it was washed and all, and they put it back in! They set a timer and I layed there for abuot 20 minutes or so, they say you can resume all normal activities but hot tubes and hot baths, but i took it easy the rest of the day! Good luck!

Well I just did my 1st IUI on monday 17th so I will share my experience with you.  Are you doing a sperm wash with it????
Went in- they did sperm wash (well I added 1/2 at home w/ specimen then they spin it and add the other 1/2 before they inject you.)
When they did IUI it was just like a pap but over faster....whew....
My dr. said to lie down for 10 min.  He said there is no scientific data that says it helps but it cant hurt right???  Well I prolonged them and stayed lying down for 25 min..because I BELIEVE it helps...  later that day I had some cramping, minimal spotting which dr. said could happen, BLOATING and NAUSEA until late last night!!  Nothing comes out after the IUI like bd'ing cause like babyalive said ... its all the way up in your uterus.  Remember when you bd the semen is in your vagina so it can leak out easily and it has to swim up through the cervix which may or may not be open, may or may not have enough cm to help them along.  But when it is put into your uterus directly you get A HEAD START!!! It's like cheating a little!! HE HE : ' )   Well this was my experience.... let me know how you do and i wish you the best of luck!

Yes, you'll need to remain laying down for about 20 minutes.  You will most likely not have any discharge like regular bd becuase with IUI it's going directly into your uterus.  Just relax.  It's really quick and painless, sort of like having a pap.    You may feel slight cramping during the IUI and then again later that evening you may have some mild cramping.
