50 eggs..they got 50 eggs from our ED

Question

Hello all:

Most of you don't know me as I haven't posted in a million years.  We've been struggling with TTC and I've had 5 miscarriages, we've spent over a year trying to get an egg donor.   It's been such a struggle.  I am hoping by using this egg donor I will get pregnant.  Today's one of the big days...today they did the egg retrieval.  Our ED had 50 eggs.   isn't that amazing?  I've never heard of anyone producing 50 eggs.  I don't know what I was hoping for.  I think I had between 20 to 25 in my mind, but i never expected the ED coordinator to tell me they got 50 eggs from the donor.  I am estatic and I am hoping and praying (conflict of interest?) that many many will fertilize.   Maybe this is going to happen for me.   I did see a fortune teller once and she did tell me more children in my future...maybe she was right?  LOL!!

its hard to say how many will fertilize. My ED had 28 eggs, I did a split cycle so someone else got half of her eggs, out of 14 12 fertalilazed and 8 made it to day #5 we transferred 2 froze 6 and I have 4 month old twins, its such an exciting time, I wish you the best of luck

I asked the agency if our ED was okay.   They said they are taking good care of her.  I thought the same thing with those many eggs, geez..the poor girl had to be bloated for sure.  

We are using an egg donor due to my egg and # of miscarriages.  The embryos will be transferred to me.  They will only transfer 2 embryos max.  So.....you would think the odds are in our favor right?????

I was hoping we'd get about 10 good embryos to fertilize.   At least the embryologist will have some work cut out for him !! LOL!!  I am happy to see that the money we spent at the clinic will be well earned!! LOL!!

Any idea on the percentage of eggs that fertilize???

WOW! 50!! That is amazing! I bet she was hurting from all those eggies ! WOW! I am not familiar with your story so forgive the questions :) Are you getting the embies transferred into you? How many are they going to put back in (max)? I am excited for you!! Out of 50 eggies, you should be able to pull the best and the brightest embies out of those!!! Good luck!!

Oh wow!!!!! That's amazing! Holy moly...bet your ED must have been a bit uncomfortable for the past few days ;-)
