Advice Please?

About to start 2nd round of clomid, however, yesterday had baseline US and midwife preforming stated that I have a cyst in my right ovary that measures 49mm by 20mm.  She said that it was because my progesterone was so high and that it was normal for this to happen and it would go away on it's own.  I'm not sure I trust her opinion.  I'm afraid now to start clomid again (suppossed to start today day 5), I'm worried it will make it worse or make more.  I don't know what to do, and can't ask my dr until tomorrow.

Does anyone have advice for me?

I have done the ovidrel shot twice now and both times had cramping for 2 days afterward. Unfortunately both times RE said no BD bc my lining was too thin.

Glad your cycle is working out and your cyst is shrinking. Good luck!

My first cycle of IUI was halted b/c I had cysts and the clomid was making them grow. I actually had to go back on bcp for a month to "shrink" the cysts!  Talk about taking a step backwards!

However, I went on to have a successful IUI.

good luck!

Had my US yesterday and had 3 mature follicles and cyst was down to 29mm.  I was happy about that no worries dr said.  Took my hcg shot last night first time I gave myself a shot.  Wasn't too bad though. Tomorrow am we go for iui # 2.

Got a question though for anyone who's done clomid and ovidril, I noticed last night dh and I did BD (dr's orders, LOL) and afterwards I felt some cramping like menstral cramping but on the light side, is that normal?

How's everyone else doing?

Thanks, your in mine too.  I will keep you posted.  I took last clomid tonight and go for bw/us on monday then Dr will tell me when to take ovidril shot and schedule IUI.  Hope this is the time.  This is only my 2nd cycle with fertility meds.  I haven't taken anything other than clomid and the ovidril shot. If I continue with same RE and this cycle doesn't work, dont' know if she'll change to something else.  I'm not keen on the clomid's side effects.  Moody, hot flashes, and terrible gas.  So we'll see.

Good Luck this cycle, and keep me posted.

RE finally called me back yesterday afternoon.  But still that is not acceptable.  If I had waited to take the clomid it would have messed up this cycle.  RE did tell me not to worry about the cyst because my E was low.  She said it would go away on it's own.  I'm not too concerned because I've asked a few people and was told the same thing. People being nurses I work with.  But my decision is this, if I don't get pregnant this cycle, I'll make sure to have them do US again to see if it did.  Either way I think I will look for another RE because waiting for over 48 hours for a response isn't cool with me.

Thanks for all your support.  It is so helpful to be able to talk, cry, or vent with others that may be experiencing similar things.

ps as for the cost, I am fortunate to have good insurance. Thank God or I wouldn't be able to do this.

If you don't get pregnant this cycle, have the cyst removed.  They put you on birth control for one cycle to prevent your lining from getting thick, and then they do the procedure.  Better to have it removed because I was told it could lower you chances of getting pregnant.  It is not painful when it is removed, but it might cost you money if you don't have good insurance?

So I called the RE office on Monday morning and left a message for the dr to call me back.  And she didn't.  I have an appt for friday for bw and us cd10 in prep for next iui.  I figured since I'm in the middle of a cycle I will continue.  But when I see dr friday I will inquire why I wasn't called back.  After this cycle what ever the outcome I'll be looking for a new RE.

Sorry you are going through that with the cyst.  I've never had one so don't know what to say but I would also call tomorrow so you can decide whether to continue or to skip a cycle.

As far as IUI, my clinic advises to abstain from Day 9 on... Until both IUIs are done, then, no restrictions.  As you mentionned, their reason is to ensure sperm count us high for IUI.

Thinking of you.  Good luck.

I had a cyst left on each ovary last cycle of clomid, each about 20x20. RE said NOT to take clomid until they go away, as the clomid can make them bigger. Although cysts are usually not a big deal and go away on their own, large cysts can cause potentially serious complications (I have a friend who lost an ovary due to one). I waited a cycle and at the next cycle the cysts had gone down to 8 x 8 and the RE said it was ok to start clomid again b/c the cysts weren't big anymore. Based on what my RE has told me I would not take the clomid b/c it sounds like your cyst is already quite big, but if your midwife said to take it then maybe you should. I would definitely call the RE tomorrow to confirm, though, and then you could stop taking it if they say to stop.

Sorry that your MD's office is so confusing. My RE said ov usually happens 36 hrs after ovidrel shot, and said to bd the day of the shot and the two days after. But we were not doing IUI so I'm not sure where that fits in the timing.

Hope we both get our BFP soon!

I'm on 50mg again.  RE said since I had a good response to stay at same. I'm going to call her again tomorrow and voice my concerns and see what she says.  If she tells me the same about the cyst then I'll feel better.  I must admit hearing that you experienced the cysts too, helped me not that you had the cysts or the pain to go along with it (sorry) but that it is a normal occurance.

I did take the clomid but will see what RE says tomorrow.

You are so right to ???? every thing ! I would not put to much trust in that mid wife she is not an RE and some times they take it upon them self to make decisions ! I would call the RE and double check an time she call you and tells you to do some thing !!! And if you keep having problems you might want to think changing RE's !

I had a talk we my RE from day one and said I want to only deal with him and one nurse ! I was given my RE's and my nurses cell number so I can get a hold of them 24 hours a day and I have been with this RE for a while ! Just remmber youare paying for all of this and you deserve to tell them what you are comfortable with and ???? every thing !!!   What dose of Clomid are you on ??? I was okay till they put me on 150mg and up then I started with alot of presure and ackes and pains not to meantion the mood swingsand hot flashes when we finaly mover to IVF I was up to 350mg of clomid !
If that cyst dose not go a way they can drain it with a needle and if it come done to the pill ask if you can take the bcp with progestion and estergen called NORTREL 1/35 and I did not have poblem with that one but the others made me sick and very mean !

Thanks!  I got scared when she said that word "cyst" especially when I saw how big it was.  There was only 1 thank god.  She said if it dosen't go away on it's own they rx birthcontrol pills.  I've taken them before but had bad reaction (fierce migrains and heavy bleeding)  I'm terrified of taking them again.  I even mentioned this to dr as if IVF is in my future I refuse to take the bc pills they will have to find another way.

I've been having abdominal pain but I was attributing it to gas.  Since round 1 I've been feeling bloated and gasy to the point intercourse is sometimes painful.  I'm also lactose intolerant so it is hard to tell if the gas is from eating something I shouldn't have or from the clomid.

I don't trust the midwife and I'll tell you why.  At the RE dr's I go to there are 2 RE's and 1 midwife.  They rotate days for who's doing IUI, HSG, US etc.  So sometimes you don't know who your gonna get.  I'm not really keen on this.  Last cycle, I went in for bw on day 2, day 10, bw and us on day 12 and bw on day 20.  On day 10's BW nurse called and said my numbers were good.  Half hour later Midwife called said I was having LH surge and should go have intercourse on that night and the following night.  So we did. Day 12 US showed I had 5 eggs (post clomid). Dr says great your ready, gave me shot of ovidril and said come in tomorrow for iui.  So we did.  Find out next day at appt for iui, dh's sperm count is low.  My opinion, maybe due to intercourse M/W said to have the two nights prior because I was having a surge but doesn't that mean I should have ovulated by the time of my us two days later?  (which I hadn't)  I don't know maybe I'm trying to put the blame on someone for it not working, but just seemed a bit messed up.  Either she was wrong about my surge or I don't ovulate right.  Who knows?

Hello  ! She is right ! You should go a head and take the clomid like they want you too ! I was on clomid for about 2 years off and on and I did get a few cyst of my own ! And the only thing is you will feel them when you ovulate they hurt some when they burst but I did have 1 that just disapered on me so I think you will be just fine ! But is you have any more ??? I will be happy to let you know what I went though ! Good luck ! And praying for your BFP this round of Clomid {{{{HUG}}}}
