Any one with single embryo transfer success at age 39-40????

Hi All

I just turned 40 last dec,2010 ..Today I had my ER and they retreived 13 eggs, they will do transfer on day 5 Monday...and am I am breaking my head to decide how many embroy, my RE says 2, and we don't want twind , as I have one daughter 5 yr age(natural pregnancy).the reason for ivf is low sperm and motility.

Pleaseeee any one help me out, what are my chances with single embroy transfer , any success story as i am fighting between my RE suggestion and my fear of getting  and complications related to that.

Wow, your dr put in 8? I really thought my dr should have put more in--some weren't great quality so it's not like I'd actually be Octo- mom or anything. But he wanted to put In four and somewhat reluctantly agreed to put back 5...

I will definitely do 2 eggs!! Hopefully you will even have 2 good eggs that survive until day 5. I just had donor eggs, 13 eggs, 11 fertilized and by day 3 only 3 were OK so imagine that. When I did IVF with my own eggs I did 4 at one point and nothing!
I will go with what the doctor thinks! and Pray that ONE will implant!!

I'm 42 but have been doing IVF for the last two years and nothing!

Good luck!!

I would listen to RE.  My first IVF, my RE suggest to put 5 back it's shock me, but I'm end up with singleton and MC, second one, he put 8 back, singleton again but ectopic. the 4th time (I turn 40 two months before this cycle), he put 8 back and my son will turn 6 month old this weekend.

Good job with the 13 eggs.  Just wait & see how many fertalize, I pray they all do.
How does your RE know it will be day 5 transfer?  Does he only do day 5?
I would def go with 2 embryos. He will tell you how the quality is prior to transfer.
I have completed 4 IVF's & was also up to 3-4 embryos.  Here I am still struggling.....  Best Wishes.  I pray you have success with IVF #1.

I don't know statistics but I'd definitely go with two. I'm 40 and I plan to put four back on Friday.  Last time they put 5 back and I did not get pregnant and the time before they put three back and I didn't get pregnant.
How many eggs fertilized?
My RE said 3-4 is standard at age 40
