Hi Annie
I've just had egg donor transfer last week, in Russia. We were very lucky as we had a great consultant here who deals with a couple of spainish clinics and one in Russia. We opted for the Russian one as this had a higher success rate and our consultant had had more successes there. We went for 11 days in all and all our treatment prior was done here privately and we consulted with the clinic in Russia by email. It sounds a bit scary, but it actually worked out really well. To prepare I had a list of tablets to take and blood tests to be done over here. I personally prepared with accupuncture, I also worked out to get my body in shape, ate all the right things, lots of veg and fruit, I gave up caffeine two years ago and I make sure that I drink 2.5l of water a day. I did have a few glasses of wine as I was told this was ok. Transfer was last Wednesday, there were 24 eggs, two of which were implanted on day 5 and they were A and B which apparently is very good. I rested for 3 days after, only going for a few short walks and flew home on the saturday. We had been trying for three years before with 3 pregnancies which resulted in mc, which they believe was due to fibroids, which were removed a year ago. I have two children from a previous relationship, but my new husband is much younger and even though he adores my two children he wants one of his own. In the previous pregnancies my stomach goes into pregnancy mode straight away and at 6 weeks I've looked 2 months pregnant, I'm only petite so it is very noticeable and this happened on the fourth day after implantation. The waiting is just killing me, I don't find out till next tuesday, but I feel and look pregnant. I also had slight cramping pains for the first three days, like period pains. Today has been the worst day of waiting, but I know it will be worth it to hear the good news next week. I have been feeling very positive and keep visualising in my head looking at the scan next week and seeing two healthy little heart beats. If you want to know more details of where I went and the procedure just let me know. Best of luck
I am also curious, in Spain are they able to proved caucasion donors. I would think that would be limiting. You have a dark complection, we are medium to fair, how does that work. did they seem to have alot of donors?
THX a bunch!!!
I did look at a couple of these sites and some of the concerns that came to my mind were if they did not TF right egss how do you hold them accoutable in another country. Do we have rights as foreigners. How do you know if the medications had the same pocessing and the staff are held to adequate certifications. I know these are hard questions, but real. I am in the medical field and I know there is always a chance of error, but in another country, what then?
I though it would be a fun option. A trip a few times with vacations and a bleesed baby at the same time. The cost would still be less. I know people who have had breat implants and gastric bypass abroad and went well. I saw one of sites that the offices were in the US.
What are your thoughts of my concerns?
Thaks for the info! I am going to have to look up a chart to convert euros into dollars! haha!
Wow, I will have to do a little research!! : )
Thank you mhv
Yes it is a good option if you choose to go this path.
We went to spain for a meeting, and stayed only for two days.
We where lucky cause the meeting was set the same day as my period started so we where able to start the treatment right away, and also they had a donor available
The thing is though that the donors are totally anonymous, they only try to match hight, eyecolor, skincolor, haricolor.. And if you are in ahurry like we where you take what you get, and we didnt mind, so they chose the best available, and she was close enough.
The next time we go there we have to stay for 3-4 days for the transfer, but we choose to stay for 10 days and relax in a nice bed&breakfast.
We travel from Norway, so flight is really cheap. The cost of treatment is around 6500 euros.
There are clinics to choose from all around Spain, and also in Tjek republik.
I found this to be cheap, and so far Im very happy with their service.
just ask away, if there is anything els you want to know.
All the best

Wow, this sounds like a great option! May I ask how long you have to stay in Spain? Also, is it expensive to travel there?
The advice I can give is to take your pre natal vitamin, and rest after transfer. They say to limit caffine during your 2ww (2 week wait) and no sexual activity until after first ultrasound. Try not to lift heavy things, ect...
You transfer it right round the corner!!!!! Good Luck!!!! : )
Hi Annie
How did your IVF with donor egg go ?
Did you try with your own for a long time ?
Thanks for the advice :)
All the best
Asta
My IVF was with donor eggs. Prepare as you would for any possible pregnancy -- take your folic acid and prenatal vitamins, get into good shape (especially the abdominal muscles), learn to love a really healthy diet. Good luck!
