Calling All Women of Strength!!!

A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape…
But a woman of strength builds relationships to keep her soul in shape.

A strong woman isn't afraid of anything…
But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of fear.

A strong woman won't let anyone get the better of her…
But a woman of strength gives the best of herself to everyone.

A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future…
A woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be unexpected blessings and capitalizes on them.

A strong woman wears a look of confidence on her face…
But a woman of strength wears grace.

A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey…
But a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong.

Mommyin10: Just watch the tightening of your abdomen closely especially since you've dilated already and haven't been checked recently. I should have really added that this time around is a lot more intense than with DS. Don't wait until you can't walk/talk through your contractions! Start keeping a log by you and write down the times the tightening starts and then stops. If you see a pattern or they are regular, call your OB right away. I want you to make it to 34wks and then you can do all the nesting you want!!! Have a good night! If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask:-)

mommyin10-  That is good to know.  If you take tylenol and still feel it it's probably a contraction.  I bet you are excited to get the car seats and stroller.  The girls at work got me mine for my babt shower (it's still a surprise lol) but the nightmares about having the baby and no car seat finally stopped after that.  :)  I swear I worry about the dumbest things.  Ask DH to take some pictures so you can post them.  I want to see everything!  Hopefully next weekend we'll be ready to start painting.  Not that it will get done with the shower but we'll be ready!  I can't wiat until it's done.  It's very disappointing to not be able to wash clothes and help get things ready.  We waited so long for this.  I just wish I could have one day to do it all then go to the hospital and bring her home.  Just one day...  I know you feel the same.

mommy- do you remember me saying how painful my pregnancy carpel tunnel was towards my last month or so of being pregnant with jaedyn?  I am so sorry you have it too.  by far i think that is the worst thing that can happen during pregnancy.  i would take the throwing up, feeling tired all the time, aches and pains, swelling and everything else before i would want carpel tunnel again.  just an fyi, it took me a full month after he was born to get the feeling back fully in my hands.  your doctor will tell you that most women it takes a while and does not just disappear when you have the baby.  it was very hard to change jaedyns diaper and feel confident holding him cause i could not feel my fingers correctly.  i relied alot on jason right after jaedyn was born.

sbumblebeeo: I have a gift cert for a prenatal massage & like you, I planned to use it towards the end. I'll have to ask my doc if that's even a possibility... My hands hurt SO bad f/the carpal tunnel (just from sleeping or laying down), I think a manicure + extra hand massage will do me good. The problem is I can't take my wedding ring off. My fingers are too swollen... My carpal tunnel started back in October, so you're probably in the clear! haha :) So, we ordered our car seats & expect them next week :) My mom is buying our double stroller today, so that's exciting too :) Yeah, the meds probably do help. That makes sense because I'm taking it four times/day & I'm not feeling the pain you are. I am starting to get shooting pains... They come & go. It's funny you mentioned being asked if you're having contractions. At the hospital, different nurses & docs kept asking me if I was feeling my contractions (I was hooked up to the monitor), but didn't feel a thing. I asked my doc because I was having round ligament pain too & she said if I take Tylenol & the pain's still there, it's probably contractions. Well, hang in there !

Dnikki: Ok, that does help :) I can walk & talk thru mine, although I'm hunched over a bit when walking. My ob said she'd consider taking me off bedrest if I make it to 34 weeks! So, a little over 3 weeks to go! Yay :) The shower at work is supposed to be the day after I turn 34 weeks :). So, we'll see!

Mommyin10: I completely understand! I'm glad DH is helping though and is very understanding :-) Wow! You've made it 5wks on bedrest!!! When will they let you come off? As for the all over tightening - yeah those are contractions even if they don't hurt (the BH ones usually). I guess when I say painful, I'm not sure how to put it, but I can't walk during them, I can't talk and I have to breathe through them. It's kind of hard to explain. And it's different than throwing AF type cramps in there lol ;-) I've had the shooting pain before and I still get it every now and again, I think that's more b/c of the uterus stretching and your's is doing double time!! I hope all this makes sense! I had a pretty good nap...but I still feel totally exhausted lol!

sbumblebeeo: I know this bedrest thing is hard on you and I'm sorry for that...Hopefully it will get a little easier for you in the next couple of days. But hey! We're here for company lol!!!

mommyin10-  A manicure pedicure sounds great.  DH got me a mini spa package for Christmas that included both and a 45 minutes massage.  I wanted to wait until just before the hospital but now it doesn't look like that is going happen at all.  :(   I  don't  have pains in my wrist or ankles like you but I guess I should start to expect it since I seem to follow everything you do LOL!  I hope not though.  I read about your contractions question.  here's my 2 cents...  Doc asked me if I was having them and I said I dunno what they feel like but my lower back hurts and I  feel like I am going to start my period a lot.  He said that is my uterus contracting but actual contractions will feel more like Dnikki described.  That medicine he gave us helps wirh the cramping  a lot.  I can tell when it wears off.

Today has been a hard day.  I didn't get to go to for my car ride and I missed a baby shower I wanted to go to.  Everyone's life seems to continue like normal and I'm just left behind like an old rag.  DH's VERY needy son is here this weekend... UGH!  If every second isn't about him or making him happy than the world comes to an end for him.  Whatever.   I waited all week for some company from my DH and I'm ignored yet again.  Poor me, right?  LOL.  This bedrest s u c k s.  No body has to say sorry.  I know this is what I need to do for my baby.  I just want to fast forward life.

Yes, dh said he'd wash the clothes. I just wish "I" could do it, you know? He's really got his hands full doing EVERYTHING, and he's never once complained ;-) Tomorrow will be 5 weeks since I came home f/the hospital... My tightening is an all-over belly tightening. It's very uncomfortable, but not painful. It is hard to get up out of bed & walk to the bathroom. When you say painful, how is it different from the uncomfortable tightening? Does it feel like AF cramps thrown in the mix?I did get a shooting AF-type pain on my left side this morning, but it went away & hasn't come back. Maybe a precursor? I haven't felt anything painful or where I can't speak & my tightening isn't as much as yesterday, so I'm sure I'll be ok. I can't wait til my next appt :) I always feel much better then :) Well, have a nice, relaxing day!

Mommyin10: I'm still tired today lol! I understand where you are coming from with not being able to clean and all...Can DH wash the clothes and bring in a basket for you to fold here and there that way you can see the little clothes and such? I would make DH bring in the stuff from Babies R Us too lol! That was really nice of your friend to send stuff to the house :-) Yes, my next appt. isn't until Thursday...I'm not sure if I'll make it or not. If I do, I don't think I'll make it past the 31st.  As for my contractions, I'll tell you what they used to feel like first lol. I used to feel like I was having menstrual cramps on and off, but not too frequent. Mine were more of the belly tightening even though they weren't really uncomfortable. They used to be higher up on the belly area too...Anytime you feel your whole stomach tightening like that, that's a BH contraction as long as they don't stay regular/consistent. Now, when I get them, they are more intense and uncomfortable. I can't hardly move through them and sometimes I can't even talk. These feel lower also - below the belly button, but she's lower too. If you get concerned you can always call your docs office and see what they say or you can also call or text me also.  I am taking it easy today...DS goes down for his nap in about 15min, so I will be napping too!!! I'll be checking in later, but Have a good day!!

dnikki: Wow, what a day! I'm exhausted just reading about it! haha :) It's funny because you sound like luvkayln before Addy was born :) I would be so happy if I could even clean my bathroom, wash some baby clothes, look through the boxes of stuff we received f/Babies R Us... dh said he'll bring a box or two into our bedroom today so I can see what
we got :) A friend of mine went on our registry & sent stuff too. How fun!
So, your next appt isn't till Thurs. Do you think you'll make it?! Can you
describe your contractions for me so I kind of know what to look for? I started getting a lot of tightening yesterday, like every 10 min to every 1/2 hour for a little bit. Did you get AF-type pains before you started getting contractions? I'd say, take it easy this weekend, but I have a
feeling you won't! :) Take care!

Luvkayln: Hey there! No, I didn't know you posted pics. I'll check them out next :) Yay! I love new pics :) As far as me posting pics, I don't know when I will. I'd like dh to upload a new belly pic for me, but we'll see. I'd much rather he finish the hardwood in the babies' room, so I don't want to push it ;-) I don't have access to our main computer, here, in my bedroom. It's outside in our detached room... I really don't know when I'll be checked again. They're just glad I've made it this far & don't want to disturb anything. When I see the high risk doc on 2/5, their u/s is so much better & they can see baby boy's position & my cervical length, so I'll get more answers then. As I told dnikki, I had a lot of tightening yesterday. I haven't had any painful contractions yet. I did feel a bit of pressure, but super low, not in my pelvic area. It felt more like I was swollen down there, if that makes sense. Wow, she'll be 7 weeks already?!? That's awesome & amazing how quickly time flies. Her pic w/your doc sounds very cute :) Thanks for the vote for Ava Kathleen. I think it's beautiful too :) Well, take care & keep in touch :)

Mommyin10 and anyone else interested lol: Oh man was it a long day yesterday! After breakfast I was energized I guess you would say and I ran the sweeper, steam cleaned the rug in the living room (we have hardwood floors downstairs...) and mopped. It took awhile with me taking breaks and such, but I got that done. I still need to steam clean the rug in Peyton's room and the carpet in our bedroom. We had DH's holiday party last night for work which was actually fairly fun! Dinner was awesome, then they surprised us all with tickets to see Ron White the comedian who was performing at a theatre a couple buildings down from where we were at :-) I do have to say, from about 530 - 700 last night I had some intense contractions. They were one after the other again but then they slowed after about an hour and a half...Then they were about 1-2 maybe 3 every hour. I thought maybe it was the real thing, but I'm glad I waited to see since they slowed... I've had a few this morning, but nothing like last night. Hopefully if I make it to my next appt. I'll be dilated and effaced!!! We are supposed to get a bunch of rain tomorrow, so I guess I really won't be able to get out of the house and walk...but I'm going to have DH blow up my exercise ball so I can sit on that. I guess it helps put more pressure on your cervix and such and get all that more prepared for labor/birth. So we shall see! Anyways, how was the rest of your day?

sbumblebeeo & mommyin10- I just wanted to comment about the pulsating by your pelvis. They are hiccups! :) I remember the first time I felt them with Kayln, I had NO clue what they were! And I mentioned it to my mom, and she told me that's what it was b/c she had been reading up on the stages I was at. :) And they got more and more frequent and intense as my pregnancy progressed, it was just awesome! So when Addy started doing it, I knew right away that's what it was! :) Happy belated 30 weeks to you both! :) I'm thinking of you both and hoping the bedrest is going as good as it can!

Mommyin10- Oh, you poor thing! :( I'm sorry your carpel tunnel is acting up again! I saw "a baby story" show and this woman had it so bad, it was just awful hearing her talk about it! It made me think of you, I can only imagine being on bedrest makes it worse! I hope the doc gives you the OK to get the massage! :) Ooh, that sounds so relaxing! I LOVE rainy days when you can just relax in bed and listen to it! It's almost soothing, it just makes you want to cuddle up and read a book! Although I'm sure you're sick of doing that! ;) I know your OB didn't want to check you last time, but when do you think you'll be checked again? Have you been feeling any pressure/contractions lately? Oh, and I LOVE Ava Kathleen! It's perfect! ;) My appointment went well, thanks for asking! :) I'm healed and all ready to go! ;) We got a really cute pic of my Dr with Addy and I! Can you believe Addy is almost 7 weeks already?! I think she's almost outgrowing her newborn diapers! She's still in newborn clothes tho, but we're slowly progressing to her 0-3 month clothes. :) Sean's working a double tonight, and Addy's been sleeping all day! So you know what that means, she'll be up all night! As soon as I think we're starting to get a routine down, she switches up on me! She has her hip u/s on Monday. Hopefully everything's ok there! Did you see her new pics I up loaded the other day? :) I'm ready to see more pics of your little ones!! ;)

dnikki: How are you feeling today? I'm laying here with the curtains open, watching the rain & listening to the thunder :) It's been a wet week!

Sbumblebeeo: My doc didn't give me a time in which I could sit up. I'm either laying down or propped up w/pillows, unless I'm in the restroom or at an appt. I'm going to ask if I can get a manicure. Not for color, but so they'll massage my hands & feet! They throb, it's so painful.

Ad_06:  I'm glad your glucose test is over :) I remember dh taking me for KFC after mine! ;) I was dreaming about it as I sat there waiting. I know, it's annoying hearing people complain. It's funny you mention the 16-yr-old. When I was maybe 12 weeks, I saw a young girl in Target w/her mom & newborn twins. I was just about to say something, when she opened her mouth. She was cussing, loud & really ignorant...the mom wasn't any better. It was sad. Anyway, I didn't see my nutritionist til after I got my results. Each visit is quick. She just gave me a diet plan, then each week (because I'm in my 3rd trimester) she goes over my numbers & food log. I bet our diet plans have a lot to do with how well or how poor our 3-hr test was & also how far along we are in our pregnancies. They did tell me it's best to catch it early. So if you do have it, that's great you'll address it sooner :) They adjuste. My morning dose of insulin this week & today I ate lunch 30 min later than usual. My blood sugar dropped to 62 & I was shaking & swearing pretty bad. No fun! I haven't felt like that since pre-pregnancy, but I also managed my hypoglycemia w/diet (South Beach) & very rarely had a big drop since starting that. Anyway, I'm glad your long day is done. When will you get your results?

Thanks for the luck. The test wasn't that bad. Some girl was making me really mad though....she looked like she was 16 and was having the same test and all she did was complain the whole time. I mean I didn't like not eating this morning or having to be there for 4 hours......but it's something that might benefit my baby it needs to be done!

Anyway, I was only with the dietician for like 10 mins....it didn't take as long because I know alot about carbs and such already....but she put me on an 1800 calorie diet (which she isn't too worried about the calories)  and I am allowed 15 servings of carbs. So I need to start getting on a schedule. But it is as follows : breakfast (4servings) 60 carbs.....lunch (4 servings) 60 carbs......dinner (5 servings) 75 carbs and a snack (2 serving) 30 carbs. She said there really isn't anything I can't have... I just need to watch the serving size. But I don't have to go back to her....so I think if the test comes back I do have it (which I really think I do) maybe they will set someting else up with her.

My arms are pretty sore though from being poked so much.....they ended up poking me 8 times....lol I have really deep veins and they roll. I got scared when I was getting the last tube drawn though, my sugar dropped to 41 and I started shaking....sweating ....and having hot flashes....but it's all worth it in the end! :) Well I will let you know if I hear anything!

Oops! Sorry about the jinx ;( You're definitely following me each step of the way ;) It was bad yesterday & then I felt irritated down there, kind of like I was swollen... I feel better today. I'm drinking a lot of water, keeping my bladder empty & staying off my feet as much as possible. You're right about the shower. I wonder if I've dilated any more since 12/31. I bet I probably have, but just like you worrying about going into labor, I do the same, questioning everything ;) I think we're both doing well so far. Another week down. Now we're shooting for 31 :)

dnikki-  my last u/s was Monday of this week.  That is when they did the check on my cerevix and decided that it is shrinking too much and now I'm on bedrest.  Blah!  I go back on Feb 1 for another check up.

mommyin10-  I think if my cervix was dialated like yours I wouldn't go to my shower either but luckily for me I'm still closed and the church is going to bring a couch over so I can lay down for the most part.  Then I'll sit up for lunch and presents.  I see the doctor the next day so I'll know if it's ok after that.  Did yours tell you how long you can sit up for during the day?  oh and you ginxed me!  I woke up with diahrrea this morning.  I hope yours is better and you slept well.  I didn't b/c I have nightmares I am going into labor but once DH got home I took a 3 hour nap and I feel lots better now.  He is on 3rd shift right now.  :(  I hate it.

sbumblebeeo: How exciting your shower is so soon :) My friends at work want to throw me one, but I have to wait til I'm off bedrest. Hopefully I'll make it that far :) Yeah, maybe I was getting dehydrated. I slept a little & I'm drinking lots of water. Hopefully I'll feel good the rest of the night.  The pulsating I get below my bikini line, I guess, could be hiccups, but his head is what's down there, so I'm not too sure. Maybe, like dnikki said, if they get hiccups, it makes the rest of the body shake or pulsate too. How's the cross-stitch going?

Dnikki:  I haven't had painful contractions yet, just the tightening BHs. I did have a little cramping w/the diarrhea, but I feel good now. Hopefully it'll be an uneventful night ;) What would the fever indicate? I'll check that out. Sorry you're feeling so much pain. What's your guess as to when her b-day will be?

sbumblebeeo: When was your last u/s? Shelby could have most definitely flipped around if she wasn't head down already...Anyways, when she gets the hiccups, you won't feel it where her head is, you'll feel it where her chest is and it can even make their little bodies jerk a little depending on how "rough" they are. Does that make sense?

Mommyin10: I'm glad your numbers are good and you had a nice time out :-) Sorry you are having diarrhea, but just make sure to stay hydrated and also look out for cramping and/or contractions. But I'm sure you already know that :-) I think as long as you aren't running a fever and such, you should be fine. You can always call your doc though. AFM, I'm feeling okay - I've had a few contractions today but again nothing consistent. She has definitely pushed herself onto my pubic bone - her head is sitting on it and it hurts!!! I'll check back in I'm sure before I go to bed....Sleep well tonight!!!

Hi Ladies,
Somehow ended up reading this thread on accident today and coudn't stop! It reads like a novel! I don't have much to add other than best of luck with those babies and I have truly enjoyed reading about your journeys! I hope this was not too odd, lol, I am pregnant myself although not near the same circumstance. Truly though, best of luck and if you don't mind I will lurk again in a few days to see how things are going!!

Hey girls! I am feeling very emotional today and lately. Everything has been bothering me at work and what not. I feel like my anxiety level has drastically increased lately but I am not so sure as to why. My bbs are still really tender and dry as all heck lol sorry if TMI. Hope you are all doing well.

mommyin10-  I've been working on the cross stich that i bought for her room watching TV, checking on you and myspace and facebook.  I look forward to meal time when i'm allowed to sit at the table and eat.  It has been better I guess.  My babyshower is next Sunday and then Feb 1 is my next appointment.  I am going to the baby shower.  The chuch has a small couch they are going to bring me and I can sit up long enough to open my gifts.  You get to go out once a week.  I don't until the doc starts seeing me every week too.  I wonder when that will be.

I am glad that your numbers are good.  As for the diarrhea... I haven't had that nor have I read anything that would indicate it's anyting to worry about other than that can dehydrate you really quickly and we know what that means.  So get lots of water in you.  The baby is doing that pulsing thing again right now.  weird... seems too low too be hicupps since I know where her head is but what do I know.

kmcarino: Thanks. Yes, Jacqueline (or Jaclyn) would be after dh's grandma. Elizabeth is my mom. If we go with Ava Kathleen, her middle name is after me ;)

ad_06: You're welcome :) I hope all goes well tomorrow & you don't have to worry about GD. Oh, the nutritionist told me she'd normally allow me a piece of fruit for my morning snack, but because I'm
having twins, she added a protein. So, if you do have GD, your diet won't be quite the same. I agree on the names! Who would have thought it'd be so hard ;)

sbumblebeeo: Good luck getting to go out! If I stand too long, dh says, that's not bedrest! He's joking, but he'd never agree with me going out ;) So, you have 10 days til your next appt? That's a bummer! What have you been doing to pass the time. I feel like my whe day is broken into times when I need my insulin, my pills, blood tests or meals. It actually keeps me busy ;) I love the saying for Shelby's room! It's perfect. I know how you feel about her nursery. It kills me not to be able to participate. I want so much just to wash a few baby clothes or something. dh will do it, but it's the fact that I want to share in the excitement of it all, you know? Well, I'll do my best to get to 36 weeks! :) I'm shooting for 34, so I can have at least a day off bedrest. Plus, my friends at work want to throw a baby shower at work during lunch the say after I turn 34 weeks :) I so hope I can go! Take care!!!

dnikki: How are you feeling? My appt went well. My numbers are where they should be after the minor tweaking, so that's great! :) Plus, I was able to get out in the real world & spend a little extra time w/dh :) Ok, my turn for tmi. Since I got home, I've had diarrhea twice... Is there any reason I should be concerned about that? Sorry!

The wall quote I bought for over Shelby's bed came today.  Yay!  I can't wait to see it all done.  It says "First we had each other...then we had you... now we have everything.  Cute!!!  Hopefully her bedding will be done soon too.  I'm getting nervous that she is going to come and not have a room of her own.  That is so unexceptable to me.  I've dreamed of her nursery for literally years... I just want it to be perfect.  She deserves it.  I deserve it.
