Clomid, no lh surge, ovulation?

I am on my first round of clomid (50 days 3-7) and this is so fustrating, I am hoping maybe someone who has taken clomid offer advice or knowledge pertaining to my situation. I am going to a reg gyno, not a fertility clinic and she isnt much help. I do not think I have PCOS or anything (I have had ultrasounds and everything looks normal) I just do not ovulate. Starting 5 days after my last pill I felt pressure in my ovaries for 3 days, on the third day I got some sharp shooting pains in my right ovary, and on the fourth day no more pain. It feels like I ovulated but no lh surge. I have been testing everyday around 4 or 5 and not even a faint line. grrr. Has anyone else experienced something like this??

I am posting late I know. I hope you have gotten preg already or found the answers you were looking for.

I just finished a cycle of clomid & did not have an LH surge. I used the happy face OPK's. There may be a few reasons ppl don't show an LH surge. One being that clomid has been known to give you a misleading OPK reading thus showing a neg when it is actually pos. Another reason you may still not be ovulating is you may be suffering from poor egg quality/quanity therefore not reaching your peak ovulation. Another reason could be an inbalance of your hormones perhaps progesterone. Just something to think about.
YOu mentioned your OBGYN not being assertive or knowing anything. You are right. OBGYN only delivers babies, do pap smears, try clomid cycles and that is all. They are not very knowledgable in regards to hormone balance & i fertility. It is out of their scope of practice. If you have failed to get preg after many years I highly recommend you seek a good infertility specialist as they will know EXACTLY what tests need to be done on YOU & how to fix a problem if one comes up.

I also went to my regular doc for my first 3 cycles of Clomid.. never worked.  I am now working with an RE and did the highest dose of Clomid with him this month.  I dont think it worked.  I will be moving on but hopeful it will work for you :)

I also had those symptoms but my follicles never grew enough to ovulate.

Thanks everyone... unfortunatly I do not think I ovulated. I am just going to regular gyno... I think if this definetly did not work I will seek a fertility specialist who will monitor through my next round. I am just disappointed because I was sure it would work the first time, I am really healthy except I just do not ovulate. It is too much stress not knowing whats going on!! I bought cheap opk's off the internet, bc I figured they were like pregnancy tests and just work all the time. Thank you everyone for your responses! I usually do not go on sites like this but the journey is so stressful and well depressing ... it helps to talk to other women who are going through the same thing.

Hi dear, I have read that after you take your last pill of Clomid, you should ovulate after 6-12 days. When I took Clomid 50mg for the first time, I had 4 mature follicles in U/S and Dr cancelled the cycle, but I did test anyway on OPK and had an LH surge. Next cycle I took 25mg and OKP didnt detect LH, so I thought I didnt O'ed, but blood test showed I did. I use clearblue fertility monitor and I called to Clear blue customer service, they told me, that this can be true, as clomid can affect the results - this monitor detects not only LH but also estradiol, clomid rises estradiol level, therefore I got 2bars from CD9-CD28, and didnt get 3bars. What kind of OPK are you using?

Hey,
Yeah, I do remember something similar when I first tried Clomid... soooo long ago! I thought I did ovulate (it was probably all in my head), but I didn't and a blood test confirmed that... Didn't waste any more of my time on Clomid after that, did four cycles of IUIs over the course of a year (with injectibles), all failed :( Eventually resorted to IVF, worked on the first try and now my little boy will be turning one next month :)

As to PCOS, that was my diagnosis also, but now my primary doctor actually discovered that I have issues with my thyroid, so I wonder if that was an issue with me all along...

Best of luck on your journey; it does come to an end eventually! :)
