D&C

Hi, I had a d&c a week ago at 13 weeks although I was told my baby died at 10 weeks. Is it possible to have a period so soon after having the d&c because my I lost the baby at 10 weeks so there was 3week inbetween. I would of been 14 weeks today but and have started to get period pains and did not get any pains after the d&c.

Hi ALeanneG, yes a negative test is a good sign, it means your hcg levels are low or even at 0, which means you should ovulate soon and get your period

Hi naan84, I just did a pregnancy test and it says negative. It is only a week after the d&c ,trying to stay positive as this should be a good sign right?

Im sorry for your loss. Your cycle and body will be abit off after a miscarriage and d&c, its very normal, your hormones are leveling out. Depending on what your hcg level was before the d&c will depend on how long it takes for your cycle to return, the weeks doesnt matter so much. Say your hcg level was 45,000 then it could take a month or more to drop back to 0, if it was only 500 then might only take a week. Bleeding and cramping are normal after a d&c. Generally you should expect your period to return between 4-8 weeks after the d&c.
