does hyperstimulation mean I didn't O?

I just went to my new OBGYN today, coincidentally I scheduled this over a month ago, and had my first IUI on Saturday.  I feel like my ovaries are the size of oranges!  I'm SO uncomfortable.  So this awesome new doc didn't make me wait to schedule an u/s like my old doc would've, and just went on in to check out how I was doing - himself!  No tech....just him!  That made me happy and was one of the main reasons I switched to him.  First thing he says is "wow, they are big!" - I was thinking oh great!  Then he says he thought he was looking at them on the magnified level, but it was actually the normal level!

Overall, he said there's no free fluid yet and that I'm mildly hyperstimulated.  My concern was that 2 of the many remaining follicles were over 3cm at this point.  I asked him if that meant I didn't O, and he said no, not at all - but I don't see how.  At least for those two.  I did have 4 mature ones, so maybe the other two let loose.  But wouldn't they stop growing if I O'd?  Aren't they too large?  I hope none of them rupture - been to the ER way too many times for that!

OHSS can be SO painful!!  It is hard because when your ovaries are THAT big they push all over the other things inside of you, and make everything uncomfortable.  Take care of yourself!

Thanks everyone!  I went against doctors orders today and worked anyway - I'm a waitress and it was busy.  We really need the money.  I'm regretting it.  In fact, late last night I measured out a circle 10cm across vs. a 3-4cm circle, and I realized why it would be so easy for them to twist, and why he told me not to move.  They are the size of grapefruit!  No wonder I feel like this!  I just got up from a nap and I am just feeling so painfully bloated and uncomfortable.  Last night I couldn't sleep because every position eventually hurt inside.  I don't know what to do.  At least I don't have to work tomorrow, but I'm trying to ride this out and be patient - I just feel pretty miserable.  I have to go the pharmacy within the next hour and a half to pick up my prometrium, and even though it's about 3 minutes up the road, it seems like the most impossible task.  Dh won't be home til late tonight, and the funny thing is, I don't think he REALLY appreciated what I was feeling until I showed him the comparison of the two circles!  - I'll try to hang in there.

Congrats on your cycle!  You probably did ovulate some of the follicles, just not all of them, and thats ok too.  The HCG shot may not rupture all of the follicles, I wouldn't be too concerned, although I know its hard not to wory.  GL 2 u.

Hello!  Sorry your uncomfortable!!!!   And thats graet that you had 4 mature follies!!!      So was this ultrasound performed after the IUI right? two days later??    Sounds like at least two of your follies ruptured and released eggs!!   as far as hyperstimulation, I have heard of a lot of people having that and getting pregnant, pregnancy actually makes the symptoms of OHSS last longer and more severe!    So defintely doens't sound like your out this month at all!
My situation this cycle was that I only had one mature follie (no others at all) and it continued to get bigger, so i dont' think that I O'd since it was only that one! So far I've had some twinges here and there, but no acute rupture that i can feel! (my follie was 25mm the day after IUI - it was 22mm the day before IUI, or 48 hours prior)  I'm also so scared that it will turn into a cyst and make me be out another cycle and like you said it will rupture! which i've had and thats def no fun!
So sounds like your follies did pretty good, good luck and keep me updated!!! : )
