For those who don't ovulate

For those that don't ovulate - how do you know you don't ovulate? do you not have your period each month or do you still get a regular period and dr's have seen that you just don't release an egg? I'm just confused because i get my period every month and my dr said that is indication of ovulation but then I read on the internet that you can get your period and still not ovulate so i'm confused.

Hello I dont have periods due to low body weight but I DO/HAVE ovulated sometimes as I conceived our son 3 years ago. Didnt know I was pregnant until I was 4.5 months gone. Now we are trying for a sibling and it is hard, had a progesterone test done and did ovulate 2 months ago but not this month.best wishes melissax

i don't get a period, and blood work shows low fsh levels and progesterone levels with out any meds, plus i tries opks and they never show a surge when i'm not on any meds.

Why dont you try those sticks that show when your ovulating...if they don't light up then you are not. (meaning getting two lines)

Wishing you lots of luck.

I do not have periods, but I also know because I take opk's and if I am not on Clomid they don not change at all.

from what I've read--you can get your period and not ovulate. The only way to be sure you ovulate is to have an ultrasound after ovulation to see if the follicle has ruptured. There is a syndrome called Luetenized Unruptured Follicle Syndrome where a woman does not ovulated but her body (and progesterone levels) indicate she has.  That's why the only way to know for sure is a vaginal ultrasound.
I don't think Luetenized Unruptured Follicle Syndrome is very common--but for people w/ unexplained infertility it can be up to 30% of cases (I read this in Taking Charge of your Fertility)
