Peeing right after transfer

Hello,
I am going through my second attempt at IVF.  Yesterday I had my transfer and could only hold the urge to urinate for about  15 minutes.  My husband was so disapointed when I had to get up and pee before the 45 minutes were up.  I am wondering if any of you have had sucessful IVF after the same sort of situation.  I know it is common to feel that you are peeing out the embryos but it was just so soon after the transfer.  This is the first time I have blogged about my IVF procedures by the way.

Wow, one embryo and you are pregnant!  Congratulations.  I did five this time.  I know it is a lot, but last time neither of my 2 embryos took so I was much more aggressive.  It really comforts me to hear that other clinics encourage you to go so soon after the procedure.  I am on day 8 post retreival and I have been feeling cramps, but am wondering if it is the progesterine suppositories causing them bcs I get them when I am trying to fall asleep.  I would just love to be sick with symptoms.  You know, throwing up, nausious, cramps all the time.  Anything to know for sure.  :)

Don't be worried.  After my transfer they had me urinate after 5 minutes.  It was my 1st attempt and now we are 4 wks preggie.  I even asked the nurse if it was ok and that I felt it was too early to go and she said not to worry because the embryo (I only had one put in) was as snug as a bug in a rug.  I guess they were right.  I know clinics have people wait a while but I am not sure why, I can't imagine because I really had to go.  Good luck!

I guess I asked what your clinics did too.  Some of your responses make me a little nervous but I think I realize that if my clinic didn't have me use a bedpan or stop me from going, it must not have been a concern for them.  I did lay back down for another half hour after I got up.

The place we go used a catheter to empty my bladder after the transfer as they require a 1 hour lay down.

my transfers in california if you had to go during the 45 minutes you HAD to use a bedpan!
Here - they had you pee about five minutes after - that was their policy - I hated it - then you sat in a chair for a few minutes (I did not get preggo)

Please, don't worry.  I waited about 20 min and then I had to go.   Note that people who try to conceive naturally don't even know they have embryos inside and continue with normal activities.  So, bumpy ride should not affect anything.
I hope a bfp is coming your way!!!!

Oh thank goodness!  That is such good news!  I've also been blogging today on ivf.ca and had several people tell me that their clinic does not even require you to wait to use the washroom.  Congratulations on your pregnancy! I went to college in Austin by the way (I saw you were from there).  I am feeling so much more reassured.  Especially since you had the same experience and are now pregnant.  This time around, I changed so many things that I felt could have affected my first try (even though you never really know why it doesn't work) and feel most things have gone very smoothly, aside from the incident of having to get up after the procedure and a bumpy 2 hr ride home.  Now I am just trying to make it through bedrest when I am used to always doing things.  Blogging is helping.  :)

I had the same experience!  I just had to go, could not hold it.  Fortunately, your embryos cannot fall out and you certainly cannot pee them out.
I am almost 11 weeks.
Best of luck to you!!!  I hope 2 is the charm for you.
