I live in California and Kaiser Permanente Insurance covers fertility treatments, meds and IUI, but not IVF.
You might have to find a job that offers infertility coverage in your area.. Conceive magazine has a great article on companies that offer that type of coveaage
Where do you live? I have never heard of an IUI costing that much. It runs from $300-350 per IUI, without meds or monitoring.
As far as insurance goes, I have BC/BS through my husband's company. He has the executive benefits, so everything from meds to monitoring, IUI's and IVF's are covered in full. I only paid $25 for Follistim and all those things, when I go for monitoring I don't have any copays. I'm not sure how much the company pays for our insurance, but I'm guessing it's hell of a lot if it covers all these things. I know that Medcaid will not cover fertility treatments at ALL..I'm sure private insurances do, to an extent.
Hi swtshae, only for the iui we paid 2500. Thats not including the meds or the visits for sonograms or sperm testing.
Honestly, I don't think there is any insurance to cover infertility issues. From my understanding because TTC is a choice, insurance companies don't cover infertility treatment or meds. There may be some insurance out there that does, but I haven't come across it yet. Also the people that I know who have had fertility issues had to pay out of pocket.
If you don't mind me asking, about how much was your IUI? The reason I ask is because I think that may be the next route for us to take. I've had three rounds of clomid (currently waiting for AF to show up from the last round). My OB has decided to refer us to the RE since I'm ovulating with the clomid but still not getting pregnant and mentioned IUIs as a possible option. I'm just worried about the whole process financially but we'll see. Trying not to worry about it until we actually see the RE.
Good luck to you!
