June/July 2012 IVFers

Anyone starting IVF in June or July?
Let's come together and support one another thru this difficult journey!
Together we can make things a little better!!

I'm 37, got a BFP May 9th that is being taken away from us. DH and I are devistated being is this was our first success after 10yrs ttc. We will start IVF #3 hopefully the middle of June if my cycle is regular. Looking for some cycle buddies to help one another get thru these hard times.
Good luck to everyone!!

Good luck!

If this cycle is a bust for us we will not be able to afford another for a while...

So glad you are cycling again.  I read that after a m/c probability of a bfp is higher.  I hope sticky bean is coming your way!!

I am Boots1971. I've been through it all. Such a long story.

Long story short, after 3 miscarriages, I am doing injectibles + BD. Still hoping.

Much baby dust to you!

Trying to figure out the logistics right now, but its looking like we will be starting ivf #2 sometime in July hopefully. I have to see what I can work out for time off, a long with trying to plan some vacation time, and losing 5 to 10 lbs. Good luck to everyone :)

Welcome!!
What type of donor are you using? Male or female? We are using a donor as well. Is this your first IVF?
This will be #3 for us. Our first BFP was taken from us so we are trying again.
Good luck to you!!

Thank you, I'm trying to stay positive about it all. I am hoping that this time around things will be different.

Are you doing acupuncture or taking any supplements?? I really think it helped last time. I have lots of risk factors for mc. I'm hoping I don't loose this next one!

I'm planning on doing acupuncture this time, we have a local community place with very good rates, thankfully, and I know it will help with the stress of this all. Other than that just taking my vitamins and going to see if we can add some probiotics to the mix.

We have community acupuncture too but they won't guarantee being there for my transfer. My RE says the most important time is before and after the transfer. I really believe it had a big part in getting our BFP along with the supplements the acupuncturist suggested. I'm going to be starting a couple more this time hoping for a super sticky BFP!!

Had my follow up from the first ivf cycle, and things are changing this time around, we are doing a long cycle, using lupron, gonal-f and menopur. This should be interesting and different. They are going this route, in hopes that I will be able to make some more eggs than last cycle,  I had 8 total, with 7 mature, 4 fertilized and then 2 that were good to transfer. They kept watching the remaining two, but they didn't do much. Trying to figure out the rest of the logistics still and hopefully starting soon. Trying to stay upbeat about it all, but I know I haven't really dealt with my feelings about the try. Is anyone else doing a long cycle? Or has anyone done a long cycle?

I hope I will be able to join in here, I have my post IVF consult on Friday.  I just had a failed IVF cycle, it was my 1st one.  Last year I had about 8 IUI cycles, changed insurance to try IVF.  I am 38 so time is ticking for me.  I hope to find out  what my doctor wants to do next.  I thought it was a great cycle, 13, only 7 retrieved though but 3 fertilized and 4 were ICSI.  So we did use all 3 but none of them stuck around.

Gosh that really *****! I had three transferred and for me the fear of what if the three stooges all made it and I am only 5'0 tall and was told I didn't have hardly enough room for twins.. I was sweating bullets! But none of them took either and then it made it super hard to deal with... On my birthday I got the bfn. For some reason idk if it's the more time invested or the failure of ivf hurting worse than BFN's before. I can relate to how you feel and I know you will pick yourself up and give it all you got round two!! Any suggestions from your doctor on what happened? If you read my journal on our crazy plan for next round you will see my RE's reasoning on what could of happened to our embryos in case it sparks a question or two for you in your situation. I'm all about sharing my experiences in hopes of someone else getting to a BFP faster than it's taken us!

I talked to my Dr. today, she is not sure why it didn't take.  So we are skipping this month as I am on cycle day 3 (I think) today.  So looks like I will be a June/July cycle.  She is changing my dosing on the Follistim, from 300 to 375 in hopes of getting the follicals from the right side.  I have some endo going on but she doesn't think it's an issue.  She is also hoping that I can be 5 day instead of 3 this time.  I hope to get into more detail once the cycle starts....

Thought I would join this group.   I had my first failed IVF cycle this month.  Pretty heartbroken.   I haven't gone to my follow up appointment yet.  Haven't been able to bring myself to make the appointment.
I was on Gonal-F and Menopur.   My right ovary didn't produce many follicles and they were way behind in size compared to my left.   I had 10 at retrieval.  But was told the following day all were immature so they couldn't do ICSI.   5 fertilized-  had a 5 day transfer.  1 at Morula stage and the 2nd was not as far.   the other 3 arrested.   So none to freeze.   My progesterone was low during the wait and had to up my injection dose.    Just a lot of negative all around.   I am 31 and responded well to stims during IUI- so it was a shock that I didn't get better results.

I am interested in the longer stim dosages.  If I do this again in the future I want to get more Eggs and Mature Eggs!

The more questions you ask the better I say. Sometimes it opens new doors to help solve issues. I hope you get a better response this time. I have been on follistim 225 and menopur 75 the last two ivf cycles.

So sorry about that. The hardest thing I had to do was make that appointment. I was out when I got that bad news phone call, and wasn't able to look at our calendar and see when we could make the appointment, so I was stuck having to call them back. It took me a few days to be able to make the call.

It was an interesting appointment, and even hearing that we did everything right and everything looked perfect, except for the out come, didn't really make me feel much better. I was sort of expecting the same protocol as the first try, but it was change because I only had 8 follicles at retrieval, the hope it to get that number up to 10 or 12. Lucky for me, 7 of the 8 eggs were mature, but then only 4 fertilized and only 2 were good enough to transfer.

Thanks for the support!  It is nice to be able to talk with people who actually know how it feels.   Hope your next IVF is very successful!

thanks for sharing your information.   I am gonna make the follow up appointment in the next 1-2 weeks.   I need to get some closure.   Hopefully my RE will have some insight as to why I haven't been getting pregnant and what he might do in the future.   I plan on taking a few months off and then thinking about maybe doing this again.   I need to find a way to make the side effects of the meds a little more tolerable so i am not a miserable mess!.  =).
