Just got back from RE appointment

Well just got back from the RE appt. We haven't been there since September. We had a bad year last year so we decided to wait a while before going in to talk to her. Of course she stated the obvious, I am 30 now and SHOULD have been pregnant by now (DUH? That's why I paid her so much money, it was her job to GET ME PREGNANT!) and was about to go on her "IVF will definately get you  preggo" rant, but I stopped her. Told her we would like to do the Dickey protocol again (clomid and shots) for a month ( it worked a year ago), then clomid, shots and IUI during the summer. If it still doesn't work then we will wait a year and save up for IVF (still a long shot! I am a teacher. I can't afford IVF - even WITH insurance!) I have to wait about 3 weeks to start since I just got off AF a few days ago. I am still on the 100mg clomid this month. It is a long shot but it can't hurt to try :)

So, just wanted to let everyone know my crazy butt is going back on the shots...ugh. Hopefully these eggies will be better and we can finally get preggo and have one that sticks :)

Yay for DH being on board!  I couldn't get my DH to take vitamins for anything!!!  I don't know how he would have reacted if I pushed for further analysis...I imagine it would have been quite a fight.  You have such a great attitude about the whole thing!  Wishing you all the best!

Tanker - no we haven't done IUI yet. We will try this month coming up with natural BDing (if worked the first time we did it with shots and clomid) and then the next month IUI. I hear better results with IUI than BDing alone. My hubby was very against IUI because he had to use the cup :) He HATES doing this :) He is scheduled for another sperm analysis next month right before we start shots and natural bding. So, he is less than thrilled but it has finally gotten to the point where is doesn't even fight it now :) His clock is ticking as bad as mine is now! So, he is finally willing to do anything...He is even taking pills (multivit and L-carnitine) to pumped the "guys" up :) HA! God bless him!

Jennyvictoria: I just can't do that. Even with insurance paying some of it, it is a lot to take on. My insurance only pays $15000 total for my whole life of infertility and a good chunk of it has already been used. If I do IVF now and it doesn't work I will have no more benefits at all to draw from. Once the $15000 total is gone, it's gone. I would rather try for another year with what worked the first time. :) After that we may move to IVF - insurance won't cover all of it but I am lucky to have it cover 70% until that $15000 is gone. And if I go IVF I better pray for twins or triplets because we sure won't be able to try for anymore :) We won't have anymore money left... :(

I know.. IVF is really expensive but have you considered doing a 'shared risk program'? We're considering doing it. Basically you pay in $25,000 and then you can do up to 4 rounds of IVF. If you don't get pregnant in those 4 rounds then you get 75%-100% back. But if you get pregnant in the first round then you're out the 25. Since IVF can cost $12,000-$18,000 a round it might be a good idea to do something like this. We're also looking into traveling to do the IVF. In Japan IVF only costs $3000.

Have you done IUI before?  If not you probably have a really good chance with it.  I have never been able to get pg from bding (even with clomid and trigger) but have gotten BFP 3 times with IUI.

Best of luck.. i hope it works out real soon for you!!

Thanks Heather! It would be wonderfully ironic if I got preggo this month :)

Thanks for the dust :) I knew she was going to go into the IVF rant so I just cut that off at the beginning :) I have no idea if the protocol will work. I will have 3-4 cycles to try at least (if I can afford it). Hopefully this works. Maybe I will be lucky and the clomid by itself will work this month :) (Yeah right!)
