Negative HPT day before Beta - could I still be pregnant?

I did what we are all told over and over to NOT do.  I took a HPT this morning.  I was just so excited thinking, "It's only one day before my Beta, it's GOT to be positive, right?"  Well, I was wrong.  It was negative.  Should I give up hope now?   Are the chances pretty slim for me to actually be pregnant when my Beta is tomorrow?  Or do the blood tests pick up levels of HCG that a HPT can't?  I had my FET last Tuesday.  Today is Thursday, so I'm 9 days post a 5 day frozen embryo transfer.  I have had SO many symptoms this time and I just "knew" that I'm pregnant.  This is our fourth time with IVF and we've only had one success.  And the only other times I've ever felt the symptoms I'm feeling now is the one time it worked.  So ... I guess my question is how sensitive are the blood tests vs the urine tests you take at home?  Is there a sliver of  hope that I can still be pregnant? :(

it depends on the doctor and the embryologist.  they say if embryos are of good quality, some are able to survive in the lab and grow to the blastocysts stage which is the day 5. on the other hand, not all embryo's can survive in the lab past day 3 which is why it is then transferred on that day 3.

hi,
my doctor said no need for a blood test. that the HPT (i did like 10times) is alright. she booked me for an 8th week scan to see the number of sacs and to hear the heart beat. said to continue progesterone for another 4weeks

Hi,

Just found out something interesting.I'm not sure how things work in the US, but a friend of mine( Italian) went to a fertility clinic in Grecce for IVF.She had already had 3 IVF in Italy all gone negative. The difference in Greece is that once the egg is fertilized in vitro, they wait 5 days( versus the 2 days in Italy) to implant it in the uterus. And it worked! How long did they implant yours after fertilization?

I am sorry.  I am soooo glad you are not giving up.  I did 7 transfers and several years before I received my bfp.  I know how hard it an be to keep trying, but I will tell you this.  It is worth every fail when it finally does work.  And it will!!!  Don't give up!!!  Will you start again right off?  I will look forward to supporting you with your next try.

Thank you all.  My blood test was yesterday and it was negative.  So last night I stopped all my meds (progesterone in oil, delestrogen).  I'm disappointed, of course.  This is our fourth try with IVF.  We will try at least once more.  (My blood test was 10 days post transfer.)  I guess it was the progesterone in oil that was causing all of my symptoms.

This may help you to know what is going on.  Hang in there!!!  Some people have a lot of symptoms, some have zero.
When is your bloodtest??

===========

**this is what happens in a 5dt :

0dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst
1dpt....Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
2dpt.. Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
3dpt.. Implantation begins,as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining
4dpt.. Implantation process continues and morula buries deeper in the lining
5dpt.. Morula is completely inmplanted in the lining and has placenta cells &
fetal cells
6dpt...Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood
7dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
8dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
9dpt...HCG levels are now high enough to be immediately detected on
HPT

I have seen it one here several times.  Ladies on here do a hpt the day before or day of beta, and it's negative, only to get a positive on with their bloodwork.  I was always too chicken to do an hpt....know it's hard, but hang in there.  Sending tons of positive thoughts your way!!!!
