I think I saw a post on here about the mini IVF. I just made and appointment with the center for October 22. My doctor is good friends with the doctor who heads this up. My dr had problems getting pregnant (he's a man, but you know what I mean) and now has a 6 month old baby!!! There is only one center that does the mimi IVF in the states (I think).
I will let you all know how the consult went and what the procedure is. I really have precautions to go thru conventional IVF, so maybe this is a sign.
It's funny, my doctor told me about the center, but didn't give me the contact info. I get home the same day, look thru the paper and BAM there it was!!!

You must be employed at New Hope Fertility. i don't believe this is an actual customer. After Dr. Zhang sees you for initial consultation he is not reachable. All the instructions and your questions are answered by nurses, typically by emails. It's nearly impossible to ask doctors, nurses, or billing dept by phone calls. When I was not clear about the ivf procedure and had to ask him, he made it a point that he explained it to me once and that he could not keep explaining. He is impatient, degrading and does not follow up. You have to be diligent about following up and plan ahead what questions to ask.

After this debacle, I seriously doubted ever going back there again. I cried on the phone to Dr. Luk who told me that some patients just don't do well on the mini and conventional was better. She advised me to do a conventional cycle at a local clinic instead. But I really liked her, and as it turned out, she handles all the conventional patients herself. I decided I could go through one more conventional cycle with her, transfer fresh if all went well, and if it didn't I could always convert to a frozen transfer with my two embryos from this failed cycle. Then if I was left with nothing, I would move on to another clinic more convenient to me.
What a difference! First, having her be a point of contact (she even gave me her email address) made everything so much easier. We had a clear plan, and a clear line of communication. I knew what was happening. There was only one snag - and that was when she went on vacation. It happened to fall right as I had my baseline US and bloodwork and was getting instructions to start the medications. First I got a call from the nurse who told me to stop all medications, and to come in a week later. I knew she was misinformed and told her so. Then she called me back saying Dr. Zhang had reviewed my chart and gave me instructions to take clomid and femara and follistim --- just like the mini cycle. Again I informed her that she was mistaken. My plan was to do a conventional cycle not a mini cycle. So then she called me back a third time, and gave me instructions that were close to what Dr. Luk had talked about, but not quite right I didn't think. So after wondering what to do, I sent an apologetic email to Dr. Luk for intruding on her vacation, and told her the instructions I had been given, the medications I already purchased and asked if she could please double check everything for me because I had been given three sets of very different incorrect instructions and I simply didn't trust them that they were correct. Turns out I was right. She wanted me on much more follistim, and they gave me the incorrect dose of lupron.
So my point here is this: you really are on sort of a conveyor belt at this clinic. They don't read the charts carefully, the nurses communicate most of the information to you, and if you aren't paying very close attention, very costly mistakes could be made. On the other hand if you take some time to establish a relationship with one of the doctors, ask lots of questions, and are able to be very proactive about your care, you can get off this conveyor belt and have a good experience. This last cycle I got 8 eggs, 7 mature, and all 8 of of them fertilized and are dividing normally. Tomorrow I transfer fresh, and then will freeze any extra that make it to blastocyst. Dr. Luk even called me to tell me they would use a special test on my husbands sperm to make sure they selected the best ones. I feel she is looking out for me, and let's face it, that's a big part of this process.
For all the women new to IVF, or even those who are veterans, I would like to say this: This really is a little bit of trial and error. An expensive trial and error, but kind of an experiment nonetheless. Now that I have done this 3 times, I can pretty much tell you how I am going to respond to the drugs. I know I don't have lots of eggs, and will never get 25 in a cycle - but I am capable of producing at least 8, all of them mature, and most of them are capable of being fertilized normally and dividing into a pretty decent embryo. I can tell you that the nasal spray didn't seem to mature the eggs properly for retrieval for me, but that twice now the hcg worked great. So well in fact, that I wasn't suppressed enough with just Clomid to prevent ovulation. I think when you go through this there are three points where IVF fails:
1. Developing enough healthy and mature eggs, and having them skillfully retrieved. If you don't have the right protocol, or the doctor doing the retrieval isn't very experienced you start out at a disadvantage
2. Insemination and embryo culture. You need a good lab with the latest techniques to get those precious embryos to make it to transfer and assist
3. The skill of the transfer. Poor transfers - ones that take too long or disrupt the uterus too much might not work.
I actually really like New Hope - I love that they have their own lab on site, and that the speedily and efficiently get you in and out for monitoring. I think the US techs do a fine job, and the phlebotomists are great. I think because they do everything on-site they have very good quality control of tests and also of embryology and andrology. This is very meaningful when it comes to getting pregnant --- especially if you are working with a few eggs only and need to make the most of them. i think this is what they really do best. I also think the doctors are very experience at the retrievals and transfers, and know how to do the best job here too. I think they do have a significant weakness when it comes to customer service -- and I think this is because they have so many patients coming through there every day that it literally becomes impossible for the doctors to remember you, and treat you individually. You really do become a sort of faceless chart, and if the information on that chart is inconsistent or unclear, or erroneous, then all sorts of things go wrong (like people call you with totally wrong doses and instructions). They also are very stuck on the mini protocol, and don't seem too keen on the idea (Dr. Zhang in particular) that maybe this isn't always the best approach for everyone. It has its merits, but sometimes it just isn't the best choice. If they could just improve on this, I would rave about them to everyone -- but I have to admit, this is very frustrating and a big negative. For me, I found a workaround, and I really really trust the lab, which in my case of few eggs is crucial to success.
If you decide to go here, it's not a terrible place - and I think they are good at what they do. But be prepared to be proactive, and learn how to work the system a little. It can be done.

My experience at New Hope Fertility Center was mixed. I started as a clinical trial patient, and went there really only because I wanted to get a free stab at IVF. I subsequently went back as a regular patient for two more rounds, and I want to give people an accurate idea of what they will get if they go there, and how to get the best possible experience.
There are good and bad things about this clinic, and I think if you understand how to work the system and be proactive, you can get excellent care there. Unfortunately, IVF is scary and emotionally and financially taxing. You really want and need a doctor you can trust - someone who will really hold your hand through the entire process and help you make the best decisions. This is especially true when you are a newbie, and not someone who has been through the process before. When you have to second guess what they tell you it can push you over the edge. This is where New Hope fails. They fail to communicate effectively, to review charts carefully, and you feel a bit like you are on a conveyor belt, not like someone is taking the time to give you thoughtful and personalized medical care.
On the other hand I think they have a great team of embryologists and are very good technically in the lab. So once you get some fertilized eggs, I have a lot of confidence that they use the utmost care and technical expertise making sure those embryos develop properly. I mention this because I think a lot of people have failed IVF cycles because the embryos weren't cultured well, or lots of their eggs fail to make it to blastocyst or freezing stage because of poor culture technique. I read these forums where women (young women) get 25 eggs, only 6 fertilize, and none make it to blastocyst and I can't help but wonder why. It can't be that they are all genetically sub par - and it makes me think that something is going wrong post retrieval in the fertilization and culture process.
OK -- so here is the scoop. What you really need to understand about this clinic is that it is run by Dr. Zhang, who as far as I can tell really, really believes that mini IVF is the way to go. This is his thing. If you go to other clinics and ask for a mini IVF protocol most will have no experience with it, and no idea what to do. So if you want mini IVF this is a good place to go - they have it down to a science. The downside to this is not everyone responds well to mini IVF, and then you really have to work to get someone to deviate from their mini IVF standard. I am one of those people.
I started as a clinical trial patient and was selected for the mini IVF arm. I had no idea what to expect and blindly followed their instructions. Despite being 38 and having a somewhat diminished ovarian reserve, I had 8+ follicles on the day of trigger - and that was using nothing but clomid and 75 units of follistim for 6 days. I responded well. It was easy, I felt great. I could not for the life of me see what all the fuss over IVF was about, and I had nothing but high hopes on the day of egg retrieval. Now as part of this protocol I triggered with synarel - which is a lupron nasal spray. According to the numbers it worked beautifully. My LH soared. But when they went in to get my eggs, they were all stuck to inside of the follicles. They managed to get only 3, and they were immature. Those matured in culture, but all arrested before day 5. I was devastated. I am also now convinced that the synarel was the culprit - but more on that later.
I decided to come back as a regular patient because I felt like maybe going though this one time already would give the doctor some clues about how to make some changes to my stimulation or cycle -- and that would be better than starting over from scratch with a brand new doctor, in a new clinic, who didn't know my history. I had a consultation with Dr. Luk, (who is wonderful by the way) and she suggested doing the mini again, but upping the follistim and maybe letting the eggs mature a little longer. I took a month or so break and then called them to start the cycle. Unfortunately, I did my monitoring locally ( I am not from NYC), the local lab would fax in results and then at the end of the day a nurse would call me with instructions. I never knew how to get in touch with Dr. Luk directly, and so again I felt like I had no recourse -- so when they told me to take 75 units of follistim again - not more like we had discussed I was upset. But I didn't make waves. I should have. This cycle I only had about 6 eggs, and instead of synarel I decided to trigger with hCG (my decision, and partly financial since synarel is much more expensive). After trigger I had a lot of pain. At my pre-retrieval scan, the nurse came in and looked at my US and said oh, ok you have these three little follicle on the left side, you are good to go. And I was like WAIT - 3? What about the three big ones on the right side? She looked confused. Well it turns out I ovulated - and that was the pain I had been feeling the day before. They immediately rushed me to the retrieval and took the three smaller ones. They were all immature, but by some miracle they managed to mature them and grow two of them into healthy blastocysts that were frozen for later. This is the miracle of their good lab!

I am a 41 yr old mother of a healthy 9 month old baby boy thanks to Dr. John Zhang and the New Hope Staff. It wasn't a smooth ride for me either. But unlike a lot of negative comments here - I was determined to get pregnant and not blame anyone during my attempts that weren't successful.
I went through 2 failed IUIs. After the first IUI, I became pregnant, only to discover no heartbeat and a miscarriage a few weeks later. My husband and I decided to go for it again. But this time, no success off the bat.
So I decided to meet with Dr. Zhang again. He was very patient and attentive about my questions to proceed with Mini-IVF.
In February 2010 I went through my Mini-IVF protocol. This was a very emotionally and physically exhausting time for me. The staff was great - phone calls were returned, they promptly called my pharmicist, didn't keep me waiting at the office and throughout the process were extremely helpful.
By March 2010 I was pregnant with a 5 day blastocyst and in November 2010 my baby boy was born!
I can honestly say Dr. Zhang and his staff were supportive the entire time. Yes, the office is crazy busy but run efficiently. Most importantly, I think you have to stay positive and lookout for yourself. The stress will build if you are looking to blame someone and it will be harder to get pregnant!
Bottom line is if you are looking to conceive New Hope Fertility is the place to be.

I live in Seattle and flew back and forth from Seattle to New York several times in 2010 to receive free IVF via a clinical trial they were helping to conduct. I think so highly of New Hope that I am planning to fly across the country again, as a paying customer, to get help with trying for our second baby when the time comes.
As for the comments that New Hope is just about making money, I couldn't disagree more. For one thing, their prices are so much lower than the other clinics I've seen. Also, I believe their participation in this clinical trial—offering free IVF to hundreds of couples—demonstrates that their interest is more in pushing the boundaries of reproductive science—getting couples pregnant--than in making money for themselves.
Yes, the atmosphere at New Hope (Park Ave. location) is much different than the two other fertility clinics I tried in Seattle. My Seattle clinics felt posh and calm, but, ultimately, I did not feel that they had my best interest at heart. My local clinics were the ones that seemed all about the money. (The clinic closest to me, for example, refused to see me for simple blood tests and ultrasounds for outside monitoring; they would only work with me if I signed up for their complete--expensive--IVF program). The New Hope atmosphere did feel rough and chaotic, but everything else about my experience there made me feel that the staff had superior integrity and scientific skill.
So I'd say if being coddled in the waiting room and having lengthy discussions with the doctor is just as important to you as getting pregnant, go to a different clinic, but if the main thing you want is a baby, and you're prepared to be proactive with getting your phone calls returned, etc. than go for New Hope to get the best results. They excel at the things that count the most.
Details on me:
I was 38 years old at the time of treatment. I had damage in both tubes from ectopic pregnancies. Through Mini IVF 8 eggs were retrieved, 4 made it to 5-day blastocysts. The first transferred embryo did not stick. The second split into identical twins, but I miscarried them at about 7 weeks. I am now 32 weeks pregnant after the 3rd frozen embryo transfer. The pregnancy has gone extremely well so far with no complications. We have one frozen embryo still at New Hope to go back for.

New Hope was accomodating of my husband and I schedules. They allowed us to schedule or initial consultation at the end of the school year since we are both educators. Our visit with the trial coordinator was very informative. Matt went through the entire process in detail and answered all of our questions. Three weeks later, I made the move to New York City to stay with my cousin while undergoing the treatment. Upon my return, I found out I was going to partcipate in the conventional arm of the trial. I began taking Lupron for suppression, Menopur and Bravelle for follicle development, HCG for ovulation, and progesterone in oil after retrieval. Although the clinic was busy, I always had my questions answered and knew exactly what to do until my next appointment. I felt secure in knowing that even though I did not see my doctor at every single visit, I knew the New Hope team was working together to plan a treatment that would make this cycle successful.

At age 39, I was diagnosed with a small but aggressive form of breast cancer. We were devastated. I underwent surgery to remove the lesion, followed by debilitating chemotherapy and radiation. I also removed an ovary to try to shield it from the harmful effects of chemo (which can destroy fertility). I also went through physical therapy to regain the use of my arm on the treated side of my body. During this time, we investigated surrogacy because we had several frozen embryos. We hired a surrogate who became pregnant with our child. Unfortunately, her pregnancy did not last either.
Finally, we turned to adoption because we thought I would never be able to have a child. I was in menopause. After spending thousands on advertisements for adoption, lawyers fees, etc., we finally found a couple who was serious about adoption. We adopted a beautiful little girl at birth.
Surprisingly, my ovarian function began to return, so we tried again to have a child via IVF. It did not work for several months. We almost gave up again. Then, on one cycle when my FSH was pretty high, I got pregnant! I was 41. We thought it would end up in miscarriage, as the other pregnancies did. But -- can you believe it -- it worked. And today (right after turning 42) I have a lovely little girl to be a little sister to my first little girl.
Finally, we turned to adoption because we thought I would never be able to have a child. I was in menopause. After spending thousands on advertisements for adoption, lawyers fees, etc., we finally found a couple who was serious about adoption. We adopted a beautiful little girl at birth.
Surprisingly, my ovarian function began to return, so we tried again to have a child via IVF. It did not work for several months. We almost gave up again. Then, on one cycle when my FSH was pretty high, I got pregnant! I was 41. We thought it would end up in miscarriage, as the other pregnancies did. But -- can you believe it -- it worked. And today (right after turning 42) I have a lovely little girl to be a little sister to my first little girl.
so far my experience with this clinic hasnt been bad i seen dr zhang and he was really nice and took the time to answer my questions. the staff in billing let me know exactly what was going on . i went to both clinics in new york i didnt like the one on park ave i thought it was out dated and dirty and the staff rude as hell and rushed and i think they had way 2 many ppl.the doct called me and told me the results of my test personally he stayed on the phone with me for a hour and made my appointments himself. he is a sweet heart. i dont work for new hope and never will. im just letting you all know what it was like for me i work for the city. another bad thing are the nurses i think they were the only bad experience i had when i called they got nasty like i was asking way too many questions so i got nasty back and put them in check. i didnt change clinics because me and dr zhang see eye to eye and i feel like he will get the job done. and im not here for the nurses im here for my BABY! i will keep you updated.
You are 100% correct - my experience with them has left me emotionally fragile. The stress with calling them, being bounced around from tech to tech, receiving different answers all the time - completely unprofessional. I was yelled at, sat in the office for 3 hours, never saw the dr., unless it is the one that hardly speaks english. There is one dr. there that is professional, Dr. Chang, but he is like a puppet to Dr. Zhang, whatever Zhang tells him, he does. He is the most qualified person there - he should be somewhere else where he is appreciated. The stress of walking through that door was like a knife stabbing me. I did get pregnant twice, on a 2 day transfer, but am in the same spot now as when I started, I lost both pregnancies with no answers still. I could sit here for hours writing about my truly horrible experiences here (went there for almost a year). The billing office is compltely clueless and more so, quite unprofessional. It has been an emotional roller coster dealing with them. Would really like to discuss this further with you if you have the time. Thanks for your comment- I don't feel alone anymore.
I couldn't agree with more with the negative comments on this thread. I had unsuccessful IVF at another clinic and I came across New Hope. I was really drawn to the whole mini-IVF theory since I felt over stimulated by the previous clinic.
First consultation with Dr. Zhang went very well. He had lot of funny analogies to make you understand as to why he thought I couldn't get pregnant and he said my chance of getting pregnant from FET at New Hope would be 50%. He even drew a timeline on paper to show me that I can find out whether I'm pregnant or not by 4th week given my cycle day. My husband and I were very optimistic when we walked out of the consultation.
It has been almost 4 weeks now and everything has been pretty much down hill. I have never seen or spoken to Dr. Zhang since our first consultation. New Hope also missed my ovulation so I didn't even get to try FET. Now I have to wait till my period starts so we can try this all over again. When you have questions you'll get different nurses with different answers which will drive you nuts. I honestly wonder if these nurses are even trained enough to answer your questions correctly.

And lot of the times, the answers they give you aren't even reliable. They would ask for test results that I've already provided numerous times when it's been in their computer system all along. Lady who performs the sonogram doesn't even know how to interpret the sonogram whereas my other clinic the doctor himself will perform the sonogram and tell you on the spot what he sees. The whole time you are a patient there you'll wonder whether the job is getting done or not. Would you really want to go through that? Sounds like there were 1 or 2 positive feedbacks here but I would like to ask those ladies if they still feel that way and most importantly if they were able to get pregnant.
Don't waste your money, time, and emotion at this place. If I had read all these negative comments beforehand I would have NEVER switched my doctor. Be wary of any positive comments here - I suspect they may be posted by staff members. As I dont beleive anyone who's used this place is really happy with their service. I attempted to use them on numerous occasions and the list of negatives is as follows:
Never returned calls, dismissive, most nurses dont know or understand the drugs you're supposes to use, but you cant get to see Dr. Zhang as he's 'too busy' counting his money probably. He's not genuinely concerned of his patients only how well his clinic is doing in terms of numbers of people he can get through the door, he is rude and patronising, charges a fortune if you're from out of the country $1,000 to get monitored initially, doent look at your faxed results and someone got back to me a week later by that stage it was my day 15!! - and pointless, also lost an egg by not monitoring properly, so dont bother with natural, they cant be bothered to track properly and he blamed ME for having a short cycle that month, his staff are not particularly friendly, didnt care at all that my egg had got lost, when I started crying as I was upset, they walked away, probably as didnt want to waste time being nice. Their answer phone system is so frustrating and stresses you out so muchstress waiting for a call back that its probably ruined your chances anyway. This clinic looks good on paper but is a night mare. It is a total time waster and should be avoided if you possibly can. There are other clinics in Europe particularly scandinavia that do Soft Ivf and they are much more caring - go to them. The only reason this clinic is full is becuase no one else does low-stimualation in the US but when they do, this clinic will be empty - I hope and it will serve them right. Yes he's a pioneer in it, but at the expense of his patients he's using them as guinea pigs and also clomid is NOT a good drug to use after a few uses there are studies that suggest it has a higher link to ovarian cancers than the other drugs etc. Dr Zhang uses it because it easy for HIM and cheap and therefore makes his clinic look cheap not anything else. Some other clinics starting it are in California somewhere and one in or near Virginia somewhere, I forget the names but I found them and wish I'd gone there instead. I heard about NHFC from a friend who had a mini ivf done there. I decided to call to find out more information to see if it will work for my dh and I. I spoke to a nice lady and she basically answered many of the pre-ivf questions I had. The last communication with her was for me to email her my ins info to see what would be covered. I sent the email but never really heard back from her. It;s ok though as if they are as busy as I am hearing on here, I can understand. I would have to be the proactive one to call back and get things rolling once my dh and I are ready. Thank you all for sharing your stories/experiences with them and I wish you all the best on your ttc journey.

My overall opinion of NHFC is very good. And, if they get me pregnant (which I'm confident they will, it should be just a matter of time I hope), then obviously they're GREAT.
The Look:
I admit I was a little surprised when I walked in and saw the decor... especially versus my previous experience at a fancy (and oh by the way EXPENSIVE) fertility clinic in Arizona. The walls could use a new coat of paint (maybe a nice fun color) and the trim definitely needs some attention. In various places around the clinic there are still pieces of blue tape. You know the kind... the blue tape used around the trim when painting to help you keep the paint in the lines. Only, I can't figure out if they're "planning" on painting and put up the blue tape (doubtful since the blue tape is here and there - very weird) or are they done painting and haven't taken all of the tape down (doubtful since the trim/walls do not look freshly painted). It's a mystery to me. The lighting is quite awful in the place. I'd hate to have my picture taken in there for fear I'd look ghastly under those lights.
The clinic is on Park Ave (high rent to be sure) and it's a little like a maze when you walk in. Various rooms and hallways abound, steep stairs going up to the treatment rooms, etc. It's almost like a house. On the left when you walk in, there is a waiting room with comfy, but old, black chairs. Quite a few of them to seat their many patients. And, there is a nice, big flat screen TV on the wall featuring CNN. They always have fancy fresh flowers in the entry way every few days. The nurse/medical assistant room where they draw blood and hand out scripts is a decent size. Again though, the decor leaves much to be desired. I'll be honest... if I had walked into a clinic like this in Mexico, I would have had my doubts based on the look. Doubts about the treatment and maybe even the sterility. I probably would have walked out. But, this is on Park Avenue after all and in a very nice area. Ergo: it must be nice and sterile.
Because of the "old-fashion" look of the place, I am very curious as to where they actually freeze the embryos and store them. For having such high tech equipment, they don't look very high tech or modern.
The People:
Dr. Zhang is very pleasant. We had our first consult with him and we both liked him. He took the time to answer any questions we had. And, although I have not seen him other than that initial consult, through all of my treatment, I trust he's behind the scenes working his magic. My original contact through email and phone was with a gal named Jessica. She was amazing at helping me coordinate everything prior to my trip to NY. The lady at the front desk, Melissa, is a doll. She is always very helpful and wears a huge smile on her face. Anytime I had a question, I went to her and she either answered it herself or pointed me in the right direction. The nurses, sonogram technicians, and medical assistants were all very friendly, too.
For the most part, they seem to be all on the same page when it came to answering my questions. However, I was receiving different responses to my questions about future treatment. Since we live in Arizona, I wanted to know the possible time I'd need to be back for a frozen transfer, in the event the fresh transfer didn't work. For this, I got different answers. That bothers me a little. But, I'll just have to be patient and wait and see. When the time comes, IF the time comes, that I start my period (fingers crossed I don't!), then I will call and ask to speak to the doctor about next steps. Hopefully, I speak with him directly.
Every time I was called with instructions from a nurse or medical assistant after my appointment, I found the call friendly. I have no complaints.
Dr. Chang was my favorite. He did the egg retrieval as well as the transfer. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. He was also very encouraging and patient. I have nothing but praise for him so far.
Overall, I found it relaxing to be in all of their hands. From the moment I sign in to the computer letting the staff know I'm there for my appointments, I'm quickly whisked away into the various rooms for my treatment. Waiting time is minimal, and it's pretty much non-existant when you go for your appointments later in the afternoon. I usually went around 11am and although the waiting room "appeared" crowded, it didn't "feel" crowded.
It's like organized chaos. Seems scary given that we're talking about FERTILITY. But, it seems to work for them and I have no complaints thus far. Even though at times I thought to question whether they had all their "i's" dotted and "t's" crossed, they did.

I had an initial consult and I thought everyone was very nice including the doctor. I am doing a natural cycle this time around and going from there. Better than CNY in Syracuse where I have been pumped with the highest dose of meds, always talking to nurses who never give me my results, and even my initial consult there I met the doctor for 5 minutes tops. So we shall see, it is better than all those shots!
I had my first consultation with Dr. Zhang a few months back, and was suggested to try a few natural cycles so he can understand my ovulation partern. the first meeting with him was short, probablly about 10 minutes after 2 hours of wait. He was all right, and to the point, but he didn't get to the treatment plan, which I figured he might explain that later on. I then started monitoring my bloodwork and repeat the sonogram every few days, his nurse normally would call me on the same day tell me what to do next, but she never bothered to tell me what my results were unless I ask her. . I requested to have a phone consultation with the dr since I just have tons of questions about my treatment plan, unfortuantelly the Dr. never called for the first 3 phone consulations they scheduled for me. I got very nervous about this clinic. it just seems the Dr. doesn't have enough time to handle so many patients. I like the concept of Mini IVF, it sounds like a less invasive methord comparing to traditional IVF. but i am not so sure about the clinic anymore. Another thing pissed me off is that before I started, they told me that since I am from outside of the state, I can use any lab or imaging center near my home to get the test done, and simply ask the lab to fax them the result. I was very happy that they offer this type of flexibility, however, recently just found out they charged me for $500/cycle for using such service, of course nobody ever told me about such charge beforehand.... sign.

At my consultation with the Dr. I was fully informed and was greeted nicely. It was a short consultation but it was extremely informative and his protocol made so much sense that I agree with the last thread that I too belive it is going to be an adopted process very near in the future.
You do get little time with the Dr. and he almost never calls you back but a nurse always does. I think his time is limited because he really review all the flood of patients chart he receives and making sure they are giving the right protocol after their visits. I start working at 7:30 a.m. and I have to tell you, I have never been late yet. The nurses does their best and they are always bubbly with me.
I say give it another go and if you still have the same experience then so be it but you will be missing a great deal here, their protocol is AMAZING!!!! I am now doing the first of my FET cycle and I am very hopeful.

Just want to say that we have only good things to say about New Hope. It's true that there are a TON of patients that go through their doors, and I can see how people feel that patient care is compromised because of this. They do rely on medical assistants to relay medical instructions, and they are not capable of answering many of your questions. You just need to be proactive. Find a nurse that you like and request to speak with her about your treatment. We are in the middle of a cycle now, and we came from Indianapolis just to come to this clinic. It is leaps and bounds above anything near us. As for seeing the doctor, we feel that he has treated us very well. He personally did my ultrasound this morning (on Easter morning) and talked with us about what was going on and what his plans are. And just for the record...I am not an Asian woman. In my opinion, Dr. Zhang has a great protocol that makes a lot of sense. I think his way of doing IVF will be standard practice throughout the US in the future.
I would not reccomend this clinic to anybody!! First off the Dr is not even a reproductive Endocrinoligist, He is only certified as an ob/gyn. The Dr does not even meet with you, and if u do get to see him he is rude and he will discriminate against you. My husband and I were originally going to be part of a clinical trial. We were coming in from out of state and the first appointment my E2( estrogen) was low so he put me on meds to bring it up went back in 2 weeks it still was not high enough so more meds. 2weeks the later returned and now it was too high. The dr says its not his fault. It is my fault that it is high and its my fault because I am FAT!!! I am overweight I am 5 foot 5 and weigh 169 and I know that besides that I am healthy. He told my husband to force me to work out 5 times a day for 30 minutes so I could loose 10 pounds in 10 days. THe clinic is run like a a freaking ***** house. Seriously they push sooo many people through the doors it is not even funny. The 2 hours we were waiting there I seriously saw at least 50 couples in and out. This dr is very rude, unprofessional, and only wants money. He does not care about his patients and if you are not a thin asian girl you might as well forget about getting care there. Please no body go here, you are wasting your money, I know his prices are cheap but they seriously reflect the care you will recieve. Please do not but yourself through the heartache that this dr will cause you there are other options out there.
I did a natural cycle ivf at new hope and agree with everyone else about never seeing the doctor - well almost. The consultation and when I brought in my embryo from the miscarriage.
My IVF was successful, but I miscarried at almost 7 weeks. The nurses that called with blood work results are the worst! "Doctor wants you to come in such and such" nothing about what my results were - just that!
My pregnancy issues were recurring miscarriage so I can't blame the center for it - who knows. The fact that the I never talked to the doctor can't be a good thing!
The nicest person was the woman who did the ultrasounds. She's the only one who ever told me "congratulations", about drinking lots of water, not lifting anything heavy, taking it easy. or anything else!
I hope others had better luck than we did.
My IVF was successful, but I miscarried at almost 7 weeks. The nurses that called with blood work results are the worst! "Doctor wants you to come in such and such" nothing about what my results were - just that!
My pregnancy issues were recurring miscarriage so I can't blame the center for it - who knows. The fact that the I never talked to the doctor can't be a good thing!
The nicest person was the woman who did the ultrasounds. She's the only one who ever told me "congratulations", about drinking lots of water, not lifting anything heavy, taking it easy. or anything else!
I hope others had better luck than we did.
Just in case you guys are considering going to this Fertility center, I would like to share with you the experience with IVF with what me and my wife went through. Also my wife is 37 and her chances of pregnacy is 35%.
Let me start off by saying, we only met with the Doctor for 5 minutes and every question we had after that were answered by his nurses or some other individual in his office. After our first initial consultation with him, we still had alot of questions regarding the IVF procedure, the doctor's response to us was that if you need answers to all your questions, we cannot provide this service to you as it will be too time consuming and I will not have the time; "you are better off going to another clinic". We were both shocked by his answer! We kind of just sucked it up and continued with the IVF process.
**If you choose to goto this center, be prepared to never speak to the DR because he will never speak to you
My wife was on meds and injections for 2 weeks before the retreival and on the day of retreival they had retreived 7 eggs; which 2 were damaged and 5 were fertilized. Thinking we had 5 fertilized eggs we were very happy at the chances that the embryos will survive and soon to be our child. We even opted for PGD because my wife wanted boys, and out of the 5 embryos there were 3 boys and 2 girls. On the day 5 we had the transplant done and was told by the DR that 2 good boy emryos and 1 good girl embryo. My wife had also wanted twins so we had the 2 boy embryios transplanted and was soon on our way home hoping for twins. She didnt do much for the whole week prior to going back for the blood test, but layinng around and watching TV.
6 Days after the transplant we went back for the blood test and the results came out negative; we were devastated, especially my wife. We know there is a possibility she might not pregnant, but with 2 x 50% chance per embryo we were counting on at least 1 of them, to survive.
After speaking to another fertility dr, we sooned learned that the Dr at New Hope Fertility Center had numerous complaints against him regarding his service and also there was even a lawsuit or such brought against him, which the DR had settled. Our new DR even said that the meds and injection should be a month not 2 weeks, and 2 weeks is just too short of a time. Either way this new DR can be dishonest too, but at least he was willing to sit down with us go through the whole entire process with us and answered any questions we had.
I am writing not to badger the DR, but our experience there had been horrible; Bad service, not being informative, misleading us and mostly just not treating us right from the start. The Dr. runs the clinic like a car dealership and treats you as just another customer with no concern for you, just a $ sign in his eyes.
Anyway, just wanted to vent a lil ( not because the IVF failed, but moreso of the treatment we got), plus inform you guys of our experience.
