I would just tell him that it is better to know there is something and you have the possibility of doing something about it than to not know at all. Especially if it is a sperm problem because with your age, there is an unlikely chance that you have bad eggs. IVF is so successful in young women...I am sure it is hard to go just like any other illness, but I would think the worrying about what it could be is more stress anyhow. Good luck!!!
Start tracking your BBT...and start using OPK...atleast you will know if you are ovulating or not and when. Have times intercourse based on your OPK. I would try a couple of cycles like that, just because you r a young couple and have time. Also start taking vitamin (prenatal for u and maybe fertility vitamins for you hubby...heard these help)
If that dont work out, go to a Gyn for your basic blood tests, before going to a RE
Mine still refuses to go to the doctor to get checked. Of course I have secondary amenorrhea, which makes it easier for him to push it off as my problem. I told him that 20% of cases involve problems with both the man and the woman, but he still doesn't want to go. Some fear about the doctor doing uncomfortable tests. I decided to persue treatment on my own. I figured once I'm figured out, he'll go if the signs point to him and he really wants a child. I am mid and he is late 20's but we are afraid to wait longer because fertility tends to decline over time and chances for genetic anomolies increase. There are also home screening tests you can get for both of you if you prefer that method.
Most REs will allow your husband to make his "donation" at home and you bring it in for testing. That way, he does not have to actually go to the Dr.
He has to go before you start taking hormones.
If he is willing to put your health at risk for nothing he is not worth it.
It's very unlikely you'll be told you're infertile. But, more likely you'll be told there is a medical reason for your difficutly ttc and then given a remedy for this medical reason. Trouble ttc is no different than a diabetic who needs insulin, or someone with bipolor disorder who needs medcine to control the disorder. Burying your heads in the sand won't solve anything. I understand if dh isn't willing to be tested, but at least you should make an appt. with your OB/GYN have some blood work done, have an u/s, pap and just see what you can do to help yourselves conceive. It may be something very, very simple and you could be pregnant in a month or so. Good luck.
